First of all a big thanks goes to all the staff. Throughout my stay they were warm, friendly and welcoming. And if service alone was sufficient then this would undoubtedly be an exception hotel. However I could not help but be disappointed. Reading other reviews, and given the price point, I expected luxury. But to be honest the room was a disappointment, it was small, tired looking and dark. I appreciate that this is a historical hotel but this is no excuse for not having updated rooms. The view over AC equipment and ventilation did not help. The bathroom was a big step up from other American hotels I have stayed at, but again not what is really expected in this day and age - the shower was a standard one, no rain shower, no separate hose. These are not, or should not be, the standards of a 5 star hotel at this price point. Also, bizarrely, no tea or coffee making equipment is provided, you can request a nespresso machine but in every other 5 star hotel I have stayed at this is included as standard without asking - instead maybe they want you pay $10 for a room service coffee! To be clear, none of this is a reflection on the exceptional staff, but The Jefferson is not value for money given the standard of the rooms.
