I had a very comfortable stay at the Why Hotel in Washington. I had a one bedroom unit (in a new condo building) that was clean and tidy, and felt much more like a home than a hotel room. It was equipped with everything that you could possible need - right down to a clothes washer and dryer. The bed was very comfortable indeed. The Trader Joe's is right across the street, which was extremely convenient for picking up basics like coffee cream. I was a little concerned about the saftey of the neighbourhood - it's undergoing renewal and there are boarded up, graffiti-covered buildings right next to new condo towers - but the area is attracting younger folks and the streets always felt vibrant and safe. I can only count three pitfalls: 1. I was attending a conference in downtown Washington and I erroneously thought the hotel would be an easy walking distance. This is not the case, especially if you are a solo traveller and possibly walking at night time. Ubers cost as little as $11 first thing in the morning to $45 to get out of downtown during surge pricing. 2. As other reviewers have stated, I could not get the app to work. This ended up not being a problem because a very pleasant young lady met me (after normal office hours) and gave me a fob, but it added a layer of stress with trying to get the app to work during a layover at an airport. Related, my WiFi password did not work, but this was also corrected the following morning. 3. As far as I could make out, there is not any television services provided. There was a notice stating that you could login with, for example, your Apple account, but I did not do that. It would have been nice to have, at minimum, basic cable service. If none of these are issues for you, then I recommend the Way Hotel.
