The Poppy Georgetown Guesthouse and Gardens

Great stay and great communication. Excellent location and loved the free coffee and treats. John and Nico both went out of their way to please! My recommendations for improvement: provide safes, plastic bags for trash cans in rooms. I would recommend getting rid of the big trunks at the ends of the beds, as they are easy to hit and they are pretty rough when you do. Also, make sure you do communicate with guests when they can expect to be charged, as most hotels don’t charge until checkout. Otherwise, truly awesome, and I look forward to the next time around! Great value!

The Poppy was one of the most amazing stays we’ve ever had in all our years of travel! The garden room is outstanding and John is an incredible host. We loved everything about it ~

Wonderful alternative to the traditional “hotel stay”.

We had a wonderful time at the Poppy Georgetown. We stayed 6 nights including breakfast. John and Nico are very nice people who are always open for a talk. Especially Nico was very helpful before we had even arrived. He organized a nearby parking lot for us and had many great tipps to fill our days at Washington and the surroundings. The B&B is situated in Georgetown, which is a very nice neighborhood. The had room No. 12, which has a king size bed, a refrigerator, a flat TV screen and a Overly sitting lounge. Free Wifi is included. A street market for all needed groceries is right across the street. On our first day we did a 11 kilometers walk from the Poppy Georgetown to Downtown, which was easily manageable within about 40 minutes. There is also a bus station in front of the B&B, that brings you to Dupont Circle but we have not tried Washington’s public transportation at all. We either walked or took the rental car for our trips to Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, which is part of the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian. We traveled as a family (2 adults, 1 child 11 years old).

After doing a bit of research online, the reviews of The Poppy and the location made this choice a no brainer. We booked the hotel through our credit card... and when my boyfriend and I arrived for our Labor Day holiday weekend... Our reservation wasn't on the books! Nico was amazing. So calm. He was sold out for the night but had one room left, which he gave us. And then moved us to a suite for the next two nights. He was so warm and welcoming and made sure everything was handled, even calling the credit card to confirm the situation so that they'd refund our funds. The hotel is cute and reminds me of staying in a European hotel. Except that the rooms and bathrooms are spacious. They have a beautiful courtyard, which we enjoyed one night. And really loved the coffee and snacks they made available around the clock. It was a nice treat when we'd come home after a long day of sightseeing. I definitely recommend this place. And say hi to Nico for us! And go ahead and book one of the suites. 🙂

Lovely hotel, great location, very quiet room and comfortable. I would definitely stay again!

We have stayed in a lot of places around DC, and this is by far my favorite. The staff was amazing, the room was clean and the bed was so comfy. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back the next time we are in Georgetown! Thank you for a great visit.

We booked rooms as part of a family wedding celebration and Managers John and Nico were so helpful and welcoming. We gathered in The Poppy’s beautiful garden for drinks and took wedding photos in the same spot the next day. It was perfect! Thank you!
