We decided to try the Iris Inn for a brief getaway from DC. We brought our goldendoodle along on this trip. It was a great escape. Kathy is so friendly and helpful to us on arrival. We stayed in a cabin. Everything was top notch - clean, inviting, quiet and private. The area is so beautiful. Sunset view of the Shenandoah Valley and driving on the Blue Ridge parkway was inspiring. Many choices of trails for hiking. Great dinner at Green Leaf Grill and beautiful scene for outdoor burgers and beer at the Blue Mountain Brewery. We hope to come again soon.

The Shenandoah National Park brought us to the Iris Inn. This beautiful inn is beautiful, comfortable, and serene. The staff is superb. They are cheerful, kind, and accommodating, and are eager to make our stay the best experience. They succeeded in every way. I hope a return visit is in my future!

I chose this property based on the reviews on this site. We would not normally choose this type of property, but I decided to try something different for this portion of our trip. We rented two rooms for 3 nights. Both rooms were nice; ours in particular was very nice. Nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable. Based on the previous reviews, we had really high expectations for the breakfast and the overall experience. The first morning, the breakfast was not much more than what you would get at a Hampton Inn. Each morning it did progressively get better. However, in a B&B experience, we prefer to have the breakfast served to us versus buffet style like it is at the chain hotels. One huge negative for us was the lack of personal customer interaction. We did have a very nice pleasant lady that greeted us upon arrival and who very nicely asked us if we would like a welcome beverage. Those 3 drinks were on my VISA immediately. The dinners that are served onsite are served in this very small breakfast room. For the prices that are being charged for this intimate dinner service, we would expect a much nicer atmosphere that would match more accordingly with the fine dining prices being charged. The property itself is very nice, but we felt it lacked personal attention that one would normally receive at such a small B&B property. Every morning during breakfast we saw a well dressed female walk in and went in to the office area. We found it odd that this person that appeared to be owner or management never stopped and offered any conversation with the guests. It just seemed to us to be more about the business profit margin versus the personalized guest experience.

My husband and I stayed here two nights for our anniversary and when we booked with the anniversary package, they upgraded us from an inn room to one of the cottages. The staff was SO helpful, kind and informative and we had everything we needed. The food (both breakfast and dinner) were amazing and the rooms were spotless. The inn is so quiet and tranquil. We had heard great things from friends and family and so glad to experience it ourselves. Will definitely have to come back in the future!

I had such high hopes for this beautiful spot. But, unfortunately, the hospitality, as others have mentioned, is severely lacking. Our A/C was not working for our stay in May, and we only received a $100 gift voucher for a future visit. Of course when I contacted them, they said they could have sent someone to check on it (at midnight) had we reached out to their emergency after hours number. But, if you're paying $700/night for a couples getaway, one will be equally disturbed by a maintenance worker at midnight (who lets face it, isn't going to be able to address the problem at that time) as a hot room. The Iris Inn would be a great stay, if everything goes smoothly for your visit. But, don't expect much support for things that don't.

Remains a favorite getaway spot for us. We stayed in Cabin #6 for three nights over Presidents’ Weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It’s a beautiful location, regardless of the season, and staying in one of the 6 cabins gives you that extra little bit of space and privacy. Iris Inn has evolved over the years and now offers 3,4 or 5-course dinners on select nights. We had dinner one of the nights and are still raving over the scallops, short ribs, side dishes and gelato dessert. Truly exceptional! They also offer a nice selection of Virginia wines to accompany your meal. Overall, the Iris Inn offers exceptional customer service (especially from Evan!), great accommodations, delicious food & drinks (especially dinner) and spectacular sunsets! A bit pricey but worth it for celebrating any of life’s major events or for just a spontaneous getaway weekend.

Room was perfect! Clean and up to date. The bed was so comfortable. The snacks were just what we needed. The Iris Inn wine was great. Hot tub amazing. The kitchen had all the needed items for making meals. The Inn keeper always checking on us to make sure we didn’t need anything. Location right off the interstate.
