Hampton Inn Pittsburgh/Wexford-Sewickley

I would not prebook a room at this hotel. They post significantly higher prices online and will not honor lower rates that are advertised at the hotel. When you call the 1-800 number for customer service, they are unwilling to help. I will NEVER book a room at a Hilton again.

I stayed in this hotel shortly after it opened and had a good experience. This recent stay was a different story. The good: It is quiet. The desk clerks were very nice. The not-so-good: This property is showing wear in the upholstered furniture and hallway common areas (tears and holes in the wall coverings). Our room needed to be vacuumed along the edges and in the corners; the accumulated dust and debris was pretty obvious. Since this is a 100% pets permitted hotel, I can only imagine the animal hair and dander that was included in the dirt. The bathroom was clean, but the towels were very thin and there were no extras. The bedding was typical - a top sheet that was too small for our king bed and a comforter with a polyester partial cover that of course didn't/couldn't stay on. Every time I woke during the night, I had bare comforter against my face and had to hunt around for the elusive cover.

This Hampton Inn is conveniently located 20 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh and is right by the interstate that goes there. The rooms have a modern interior and furniture, which made for a great stay. However, the breakfast area was not as nice. The tables and chairs are different heights and the carpet looks dirty. The breakfast here was free but average. The sausages, omelets and potatoes looked like they were microwaved straight from a freezer and weren't very good. They did have a self use waffle machine, which was a plus. Overall, this was a comfortable, modern hotel but the common area and breakfast options need to be better.

The staff were polite and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was okay, but nothing great. Location is quiet even though it's right by the interstate. Don't know if they recently laid new flooring in the bath area or if they used a cleaner with a bad smell, but the floor was sticky and it had a strong odor, and it made our eyes burn. Bed was comfortable, but the pillows were not. I left with a couple red bites on my stomach, so not sure what caused that. Won't stay here again.

This property is conveniently located near I79 near shopping and restaurants. It was a short drive to downtown as well. The hotel is well maintained and the staff, especially Blanche, was wonderful. I would recommend this property if you are passing through or staying several nights.

Very comfortable, clean and welcoming, this Hampton is among the best we've ever used. Check in was effortless with courteous, helpful staff. Afternoon clerk recommended nearby dining which was a good call (close and good food). The lobby coffee was outstanding, by the way. Everything in the room was perfect, and I appreciate the switch to soap/lotion/gel dispensers rather than the annoying little bottles. High quality bed linens and towels, responsive tv remote and HVAC control, good water pressure and temperature. Nice breakfast covered all the basics, less than pre-COVID but just fine, nonetheless. Unaware that I was to collect extra towels and coffee I requested at the front desk so not in our room when we returned in the evening. I appreciate housekeeping having/using very limited access to guest rooms and will remember going forward. Gentleman had them for us at the desk but not really needed at that point. Not a big deal. I also found a young woman at evening desk a bit off-putting but perhaps only in contrast to the others who were so great. It's a little challenging to get to, requiring U-turn from our direction, and the construction was not an issue. (I'd really like to see places stop "...apologizing for the inconvenience". Totally unnecessary especially when it's something beyond their control.) Very close to fuel, shopping, dining, highway. Would recommend and stay again.

I so enjoyed my stay at the Hampton Inn. We kept adding days and they were so helpful and accommodating. I'm handicapped and I got the room I requested; a room with a walk in shower. I've stayed at other places and they would say I had the handicapped room only to discover that they put us in a regular room. Not a good thing to do to a handicapped person in need of a walk in shower. The bed was at a good height; some beds where I've stayed at were so low I had to have help to get out of them. All in all, a great stay!

The entire staff that I saw, from the manager, to the front desk folks, to the housekeepers, maintenance, and the breakfast people, were exceptionally kind and friendly. They all made certain that everything was as it should be.
