It's so low-key. I didn't know there was a hotel here for so many years... You have to take the stairs to the second floor to reach your room. The bed in the room is not queen size, but full size which is slightly smaller than queen size... There are not enough sockets at the bedside. Coffee, yogurt, milk, eggs, etc. in the public area can be picked up 24 hours a day. All other services are still available. The location is very good, suitable for tourists without a car. It is walking distance from the College of William and Mary and Colonial Williamsburg, but overall combined with the price, I think it is not worth it.

Considering the many stellar reviews I was hugely disappointed. Greeted at 3.30pm by an envelope stuck to the front door bearing my name and containing room keys, then a steep staircase (no elevator) to access the rooms above a row of shops. Downmarket motel vibe. Despite a notice saying that towels left on the floor will be changed there is NO HOUSEKEEPING of any sort during your stay. Breakfast is grim - a few packets of cereal, yoghurt, packet cakes/biscuits. Why not have baskets of warm pastries, fresh bread, local butter, home made jams, fruit - is this not the least most of us expect in a 'B&B' if, that is, a cooked breakfast is not offered? Room was adequate - tired. Tiny tv in a wardrobe. Awful, lumpy, synthetic pillows - perhaps the worst I've ever encountered. Wi fi very slow. Did not feel remotely good value for money. Yes the location is excellent, as were the toiletries, and the only member of staff I came across at some point during my stay was charming but I would never return. Pay for parking and stay somewhere else.

Great location for Colonial Williamsburg and William and Mary. The continental breakfast is pretty basic. Some fruit would be welcome. Room wasn’t as clean as I’d hoped and the bathroom is showing signs of wear on the paint etc. all that being said, you’re paying for the location above some of these considerations.

We stayed in the Jamestown room and it was just as advertised and better than we expected! Ashley, our hostess at check in, was so welcoming and helpful! We loved all the little extra attention to detail. Even the toiletries were great quality!

what a lovely experience! Our hosts couldn't have been more welcoming. We enjoyed the breakfast of muffin tops, coffee, tea and much more. Even more, we enjoyed the cold water on our way out the door to tour the historical site. This is a gem of a place that we highly recommend. Room was comfy and spacious. Location is perfect!

We loved our stay at the Fife And Drum inn. The room had loads of character and was well thought out and very functional. Bed was supremely comfortable. I love having a thermostat in the room so you can personalize the temperature. We were greeted by Ashley and given a full rundown of all the amenities available as well as recommendations for nearby restaurants. She could not have been more professional, pleasant, or helpful. A list of very detailed instructions were provided before our stay making our stay a stress free and enjoyable experience. You are right in the center of the action of Williamsburg. Parking was extremely easy by entering the garage on Henry Street. The garage is located right behind the hotel. Parking is free! A rare find these days. There are a few spots across the street behind ‘The Barkery’, but I preferred the parking garage as it protected our car, which was packed for our continuing onto the Outer Banks, from the glaring sun. I can’t recommend this hotel, highly enough!

A++! This was our first visit to Williamsburg, and the Fife and Drum exceeded our expectations. The parking garage is located just steps away. Staff members were extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed in the suite which was spacious and clean (like the rest of the building) and simply but beautifully decorated. The bathroom linens were thick and plentiful, and they were presented all wrapped up with a bow (very nice touch!). The shower had a seat in it and plenty of shampoo, conditioner, and soap mounted on the wall (so convenient!). There was a nice tv, easy WiFi access, and several ports to charge your devices. The breakfast room was tastefully decorated with plenty of options for a hearty, convenient breakfast (and tasty cookies to go). All of these little touches made the stay feel comfy, homey, and easy. The building is conveniently located to some great restaurants, coffee, ice cream, and other shops, and just a block or two over from the colonial experience. Bring good walking shoes because there's so much to see right out the door. My only complaint was that we didn't spend enough time visiting, and there's so much more we want to see. I was sad to leave, but I guess that just means we'll have to visit again someday.

5. We love the Fife and Drum, returning often when we visit our Williamsburg family. Each room is different, the sitting/breakfast room is great and the location can’t be beat. A perfect choice for a colonial ambience with modern comfort. The hosts are knowledgeable and helpful, too.

We had a great stay at Fife and Drum Inn. The inn is quaint. The room was just as pictured. Bed was comfortable, towels and pillows were great and shower had good pressure/hot water. The snacks, water/soft drinks and breakfast items were always available and convenient. The best part of our stay was the location! Right in the heart of the merchant area, College of William and Mary and short walk to Colonial Williamsburg. Loved it. Only negatives - the room was quite small when you actually start spreading out your stuff and the entry stairs would be difficult for some people. Would definitely stay again.
