I stayed at the Mountain Brooke Lodge from February 2-4, 2024. It was clear this motel was cheap for a reason when I learned that you can’t use the microwave and heater at the same time without tripping the breaker, and that there was no warm water. I could have dealt with this, but when I found mouse droppings all over the place, I was disgusted. I didn’t spend much time here so I didn’t notice it until the evening of the second day, but it was EVERYWHERE. In the bathroom, on the sink, on the desk next to the coffee machine, all over the furniture. It was absolutely vile, I can’t believe I had to sleep here. I notified management when I left and thought that would be the end of it. When I got home, however, I opened my suitcase to find not only MORE mouse droppings (clearly the mouse infestation was still current) but also bedbugs. I called management and they said they found no evidence of mouse droppings or bedbugs and thus could only offer me a partial refund. Not sure if they were lying or just didn’t actually clean, but these pictures clearly show otherwise. There were a lot more mouse droppings than just what’s in these pictures, but at this point I just wanted to get out of there. They also told me they had rented out my room to another person shortly after I left, not even taking time to have an exterminator check it out. The partial refund doesn’t even begin to cover the costs I have incurred for dealing with the bedbugs that this vile place gave me. This place is filthy and the managers/owners do not care about your health or safety.

under new management in past 2 wks. Owner died. Great new, large towels. Suggestions: ASAP - Need new pillows and shower liners (they're moldy) Play up the pink bathroom tile.Brown and pink would cost little ( for now) In 22, 23, 24 the bathroom wallpaper needs to be removed (although the walls underneath may need replacement) The windows need to be thoroughly vacuumed and cleaned of all the spiders and bugs. Then they need to be secured. Continue the "Woodsy theme" for now. The blue coverlet in 24 doesn't fit the theme. Encourage use of fire pit. Get fire going in evening and offer small S'More bags in a basket on table in each room as well as something with Mountain Brook name Paint the sign. It looks very old, tired and uninviting. A coat of some fresh paint will stand out to those looking for a place to stay. Finally, take out all that old, ugly carpet. Replace with Wood looking vinyl plank the is easy to keep clean. Put washable rugs at the bedside for comfort when the weather turns. Hope you had some of this in your plans. Do above and you could easily charge more for your rooms. You have a good location

Super friendly new owner is in the process of completely overhauling the current motel. I had some time, so Benjamin walked me through the improvements they are working on, things that are radically reinventing the rooms, for instance making them all (?) suites, as well as general and deep changes to the whole motel, all while keeping what can be kept of the characterful knotty pine walls. Despite a very small bathroom at this stage, and other "old fashioned" things about the room, it was good now, for sure, probably especially after the deep clean when the ownership changed, and was reasonably priced. But if you are coming up for the 2024 ski season - when the makeover is planned to be finished - keep an eye on this place!

Mountain Brook Lodge is a cozy log cabin type of atmosphere. Al and Alicia were so wonderful and accommodating for our family’s needs. With minutes from Santa’s workshop and Lake Placid it was the perfect place to stay. The breakfast in the morning was perfect for all ages, also wonderful service then as well. When we were about to head out, Al gave my children a Christmas gift which they loved. We picked the perfect place to stay and WILL be staying there again the next time we are in the area.

This is a great little place to relax and enjoy the Adirondacks. Our host, Alicia, was welcoming and more than accommodating. The housekeeper Liz was great and always offered a smile and friendly conversation. Our room was cozy and had everything we needed. The evenings around the campfire, and conversations with Alicia, were a nice wind down to the day. My only regret is that I did not have the opportunity to meet Al after our many phone conversations before our visit! Our 15U baseball team stayed at the lodge for three nights during a tournament and Al helped us get things arranged in a friendly, helpful, manner. With any luck we will get to chat during my return with my family in August! The location is perfect for evening walks. There is a nostalgic Dairy Bar (1968) and an old style A&W (waitress/waiter service outside), as well as the Wilmington Beach. There is free live music at the beach park every Thursday night during the summer complete with campfire pits. There is also a chocolate shop right on the corner!

We just left from a great 2 night stay while we visited Santa Claus Village, Veterans Memorial Highway, Lake Placid and local biking routes. The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome and like family. My two year old loved the toys and kid friendly atmosphere. Al even gave her a stuffed dog that she adores and is providing comfort for the long trip home. We will be back!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about our stay here. Just got home a few hours ago from our 2 night stay and I miss being there already! We really felt like family and like we were home. The owner was so nice and very kind. My children told her we were going to Santa’s Workshop (which is right down the street) and she gave them Christmas hats to wear for their visit to see Santa. Also, she gave my children some stuffed animals to take home with them when we were leaving. The breakfast was great, the rooms were clean and adorable, and the whole atmosphere was VERY family friendly! Such an AMAZING place at such an affordable price! We will definitely be returning!!
