Oakley Court

We came back here to celebrate an anniversary having visited 4 years ago! It is still a stunning venue with beautiful grounds. The joint venture with Soho House has uplifted some of the decor etc. but in terms of service it has been a significant decline. On first introduction the staff uniform feels in stark contrast with the style of venue and tone trying to be set and did not say '5 star hotel' more Holiday Inn Express. The room refurbishment is lovely, some art on the the very empty walls would be welcome and a larger TV considering how far it is away would also improve it. Also worth noting, if you're over 5' 10 you won't fit under the shower. The spa wasn't being used by any guests, the pool and hot tub were amazing. The dinner service is again very casual, sit anywhere etc. the staff were nowhere to be seen and when you did find someone they had no clue about the menu itself and considering the prices that's pretty disappointing. The breakfast equally, you have to push to get something a la carte other than the buffet which was enormously overpriced considering what was available. Overall, wonderful being able to revisit, the building is still stunning and the redecoration makes each space of the hotel enjoyable but the service throughout was poor and that is such a big part of the hotel experience.

Stepping into Oakley Court was like walking into a perfectly curated blend of eras – the grandeur of a Victorian gothic manor blended with the sleek elegance of mid-century furniture. From the moment we arrived, the warm welcome we received set the tone for our entire stay. The staff were beyond friendly, with a special mention to Gareth, whose hospitality was exceptional. He made us feel not just welcomed but truly at home, embodying the kind of personal touch that makes a stay memorable. The rooms at Oakley Court are a haven of comfort. The vibe throughout the manor is one of being in an exceedingly stylish, well-appointed home that you never want to leave. Dining at the manor was another highlight. The food was nothing short of delicious – a special mention for the chicken salad! What sets Oakley Court apart is its ability to fuse the communal, laid-back feel of Soho House with the individuality and intimacy of staying at a friend’s grand estate for the weekend. It's a mix that's hard to find and even harder to execute with the level of sophistication and warmth that Oakley Court does. For those seeking an escape that offers both the elegance of yesteryears and the comforts of modern luxury, Oakley Court is an excellent choice. We left with heavy hearts but carried with us the warmth of our stay, promising ourselves a return to what felt like a new home away from home.

It’s an unorthodox hotel - everyone is friendly but there’s not really a restaurant or bar - just rooms and the “soho house” area adjoined as the focus. Just not what we were looking for at all. Breakfast was a range of options laid out on a table- no facilities to keep yoghurt etc chilled. No fruit. no al a carte option. Very disappointing for £26 per person!

Booked last minute last Friday, a bit dubious about going so near to home but so pleased we chose to stay. The hotel's look and feel are fantastic, and the location right by the Thames is just brilliant. We could have sat all day watching the world go by, didn't need any other entertainment. The team at the hotel were brilliant, friendly, and attentive, remembered what drinks we were having and were always available to help out. The room was amazing, large, well equipped with stunning views and due to SH tie up SH toiletries. It was also the first hotel we have stayed at for years that had an atmosphere (and people!!) post dinner in the lounge areas. Was great that guests were able to choose their own music on the record player. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back.
