A historic hotel but the service is very good

It's a very historic hotel that's been maintained in good condition. There are two hot spring baths for men and women, which is very interesting. The food is delicious and the service staff are very friendly, but there may not be enough people. Eating in the restaurant feels very rushed, as if I eat in a hurry. The room on the second floor was very cold. There was no central air conditioning and only a small heater, so we asked the hotel to make a bed downstairs to sleep in. The upstairs was basically unused. The bathroom upstairs was not very clean and the bathtub was dark.

The hot spring pool is relatively small, everything else is very good, the environment is beautiful, the English of the two uncles at the front desk is also good, there is no major problem in communication, the breakfast and dinner are delicious, it is worth a try

I planned this trip because I wanted to stay at this inn. It is a long-established inn that has been in business for over 300 years. I parked my car in the parking lot and was greeted at the entrance by a slightly steep staircase. After receiving an explanation of the inn, I went to my room. I stayed in a room with two rooms, a Japanese-style room and a Western-style room. The oldness is also fun. The TV is said to be damaged by sulfur in about a year. The bath is a natural hot spring and nothing is done with it, so it is quite hot. The bath had a nice atmosphere, but there was an old man with a smartphone, which was terrible. I'm sure Japanese people can read, but I hope they will observe basic manners. The meals for breakfast and dinner were also very satisfying. There was a message on the pillow. I was able to enjoy Zao at my own pace.

I have been to Zao Onsen twice for day trips, but I used a special offer from a certain website to stay at this inn, which is ranked at the top of the Yamagata Hot Spring Quality Rankings website. You can see the place where the hot spring water is pumped up through the glass from the lobby, and you can also see the effects of the hot spring water from the spring water that is attached to the surrounding area. The hot spring water is an acidic sulfur spring, similar to Kusatsu, but while most Kusatsu springs have a high source temperature and are diluted, this spring water is not too hot and is directly drawn from the source, so you can fully enjoy the effects of the hot spring water, warming you up and feeling tired. The day after I got home, my palms were dry, but when I rubbed my hands at night, the skin peeled off and my palms became smooth. As expected, the hot spring water is strong, so people with sensitive skin may need to be careful. The food is served in small dishes and there is a lot of variety, but the portions are small. However, it is enough if you drink alcohol. At breakfast, they served us rice cooked in a clay pot, and the rice was very delicious. Since we stayed at a reasonable price, the room was average, but the view was very nice. Since the building is old, it seemed like the noise echoed a little. The hot springs here are amazing! I was also grateful that I could check in at 2pm, so I could take my time.
