Lovely hotel cannot fault

Very expensive for a small room at the top of two flights of stairs. A standard double bed in a reasonable size room but the hotel is tired and in need of some real tlc.

The best experience we had. Hotel was very clean. Full of character and we loved how they decorated the room. Staff were just amazing and looked after us at dinner table and breakfast time. The food was amazing too. They were very nice people and we enjoyed our stay. The only downsudr was the parking place, we barely could find a space but it was bank holiday weekend so understandable. Overall one of the best experience of staying at a hotel.

The room is still very satisfactory, it is worth recommending, the service is quite enthusiastic, but the parking fee is too expensive

The bed is big and nice

The hotel has character and some nice parts The staff were very friendly. Unfortunately this hotel is tired, very tired. The rooms clean enough, but are dated, worn out and seriously in need of an overhaul. The bed was comfy but very creaky/squeaky. However, our biggest issue was being able to hear literally everything from the room above when they got up at 7am on the Sunday morning. So don’t expect an undisturbed nights sleep. I made the mistake of trying to look out of one of the higher small windows in the corridor, I don’t think they clean those areas 😬. We didn’t eat at the hotel so can’t connect in the food, though the cooking smells coming from the kitchen were good. It’s a very convenient location for visiting the university and the bus route into the centre. It wasn’t worth the £150 we paid, but if the rooms were done up and the sound issue sorted, then it would be more acceptable.

It was vip access property which I chose, but the lady on reception didn’t upgrade my room and mentioned we are vip access but we don’t have benefits to upgrade, room was v dirty . Old broken cupboard, nothing was vip, plz remove this property from vip access, not worth at all

Lovely setting, lovely hotel staff friendly and polite. Only downside is parking at hotel is £10 don’t know if that is a night as only there for 1 night and the car park isn’t the easiest to park in quite limited. Pleasant stay overall and would recommend, just need to remove parking fee.

The pictures are nicer than the reality. Stunning old building but the rooms are a little tired. The bed was a zipped together pair of divans which created a lump in the middle. The flush kept sticking on the toilet. The bathroom door handle turns the wrong way. The staff are delightful though, so that helps. The parking is an additional £10 which I didn’t realise until we arrived. In the queue at a reception it was clear we weren’t the only ones. Some of the parking is a little tricky with trees and things in the car park but it’s pretty. Breakfast was quite pleasant and the service was excellent. It’s convenient and easy to find and the parking is very useful.

Friendly helpful staff but unfortunately the room was not very clean upon first sight room looked lovely bit dark but nice we were out the first day but however after spending time in the room over night and the next day we both started with allegy symptoms which by next morning had become quite severe upon checking around the room we were horrified to see the carpet of dust on the top and underneath the bed also cobwebs on the bathroom door frame We were so shocked as the hotel was really nice

Room quality was poor The mattress was paper thin with springs poking out. Ridiculously tired ans outdated decor. Obviously and older room compered otherss previously stayed at. We couldn't sleep and left in the early hours.

It was a nice pleasant accomodation. Place was quiet and has a bar and cafe downstairs where we ordered afternoon tea, and late night pizza and beer. Staff were accommodating.
