We booked as we visited family and it was a bank holiday , and it happened to be race weekend - so it was the only place that wasn’t charging a crazy amount. For that reason I can’t knock the very basic, small and outdated room. But the cleanliness was appalling! The give away should have been when we were shown the room and the host actually asked my partner to remove the previous guests luggage for her!!!! There was mould, stains on the bed, grime in the shower, grime in the fridge - it was about as bad as I’ve seen. Only giving 1 star for location.

Lovely little lodge just a short walk from the city centre. Very clean. All rooms en-suite. Tea coffee facilities, smart TV, fridge, hairdryer, heater and fan in the room. Stayed with my daughter for a couple of nights and would recommend to all. There's also a bus stop right outside the hotel gate which will help those who don't want to walk and if you do drive you can park in the car park at £7 per night. Over the road from the hospital too so ideal if visiting.

I used to live down the street next to this one, so it was fun coming back to my university city and staying nearby! LOCATION It’s a short distance from the city centre- about a 15/20 minute walk (and about half an hour from the station). This was fine for my friend and I as we’re keen walkers, but there is a bus stop just outside. ROOM Small and simple: two single beds and a slightly worn out ensuite. FACILITIES The shower was okay. A fridge made for an unexpected bonus. There was a small television, basic tea/coffee making facilities and a bit of a wardrobe. FINAL COMMENTS Can’t complain for the price. I would stay again at the same rate.

I'm not one to write bad reviews but this place really needs sorting out! I went with my partner for her birthday to a place we both agreed looked great, however the pictures are very deceiving. The bed was uncomfortable and we hardly slept, not to mention the fact it was on wheels and with a broken headboard which the staff member was aware of, the bathroom was very small and the shower is lower than 6ft at it's highest, the cobwebs were seen in the corner by my partner and this was "The BEST room" The receptionist tried to rectify the problems we had with that room and they gave us another room (opened the wrong room where someone was sleeping, thinking it was empty) and then took us to the empty room, this room was tiny and had mould in the corner and the worst part was the door lock wouldn't lock properly!! Tired and very disappointed we decided to leave a day earlier! Stayed at the Marriot which we should have done in the first place, we lost a day of parking and no refund for that or the 2nd day we didn't stay there. After emailing them after, I got no reply even though they replied to the emails I sent about when I booked there enquiring about face masks and check in times. Very unprofessional and the only place I have wanted to leave early. Highly recommend to just stay at the Marriot and you'll be happier. If this place were to reply to my email it would have had a plus point but unfortunately it's all bad. Just stay away from there.

Smelt of bleach to cover smell of mould 2 nights had to lay on top of bed with my coat on springs visible , Dirty in room 9 had to go through the kitchen too get into it , second night someone in there banging about and put washing machine on, Go to a travel lodge or other hotel where there is some to complain to , I was left tight dirty as no hot water and this had a detrimental affect on myself and work . Thanks Dimoned loge

Firstly this is all my opinion. So the place says it is 4 stars as rated by Enjoy England I have looked them up repeatedly and cannot see such an awarding body, so to me that seems like a lie. Again that won't be the only (in my opinion) lie that they say to get people to stay but we'll get to that. It says that it is close to the city centre do you consider 20 minutes on foot close? Again it doesn't tell you it's next to a hospital or show you the front of the building in it's pictures that's because it's a house and a pokey one at that. Next let's move on to the rules they don't tell you about before arrival, you are not allowed alcohol in the room you are not allowed takeaway in the room and you are strongly encouraged not to make any noise after 10pm what is more fun when you're on holiday than copius rules? On top of that the rooms are incredibly small it feels like you're in someone's back bedroom, which wouldn't be a problem if that was clearly shown that was what it was but it wasn't clear. Also whilst in there you feel incredibly on view and like you have to be on your best behavior again as though you are staying with a parent not want you want on holiday. Relaxation isn't on the cards. Finally, the staircase is a deathtrap (in my opinion) incredibly steep and not wheelchair friendly, also the front of the property is very icy and that is also hazardous. Oh and the online check in procedure where you have to give you passport details is also irritating. If I had known any of this before going I never ever would have, in my opinion they keep most of these things like the rules out of sight until you get there again becuase they know it will put people off. Do yourself a favor and stay away

Urgent - do not stay here. - En suite' rooms with inadequate fire safety, poor, overloaded, electrical systems, and shabby furnishings. - Misleading website images and outdated pictures on TripAdvisor and ***********. - No traditional reception or any staff; mobile phone check-ins only. - Steep, hazardous staircase, no fire doors, no accessibility support. - Unsanitary conditions, mold, and deteriorating bathroom fixtures. - Cheap and nasty "artwork" - used wallpaper. - Inflexible refund policy; full payment forfeited upon cancellation. - Feedback - bribery to be positive. Appalling business practices; avoid this establishment.

This shower need shutting down The old B&B has been turned into a series of 'en-suite' rooms with poor fire precautions, lousy electrics, dirty, poorly maintained furniture and fittings and no one to complain to The pictures on their own website are absolute fakes and the pictures on TripAdvisor and *********** are from a previous proprietor There is no Reception, with check-ins controlled by mobile phone. There's one steep chimney of a staircase, there are no fire doors and no help for anyone with physical or sensory issues It's dirty, mouldy, with corroded chrome in the bathroom and a laughable attempt at artwork, consisting of wallpaper wrapped around a frame and hung upside down Their 'refunds' policy is non-existent, you forfeit the entire payment if you cancel for any reason They are disgusting con merchants

I would not recommend staying here. Upon checking in, there was nobody there to greet us, we had to ring the landlady from another guest’s phone as they left no number or anything for us to get in touch with them. There were so many flies in our room! We saw at least 20 flies in our room on our 1 night stay and had to turn the radiator on full to get rid of them it was disgusting. The room was nice and spacious, but there was stains all over the carpet and the bathroom was very run down. The owners of the hotel were never there and took a long time to sort things out. I would not stay here again. It is cheap but disgusting.
