The trip to Yosemite was special and the Ahwahnee is located perfectly. Hotel room and cabin were superb. Thanks Trip.com

The Ahwahnee hotel is located in a beautiful part of the world, directly in the heart of Yosemite, surrounded by granite cliffs. While the sister property Yosemite Lodge is perhaps more central in Yosemite Valley, the Ahwahnee offers a heightened experience. My junior suite room was clean, but clearly elderly reflecting the age of the hotel (which is rapidly approaching 100). Staff were friendly and efficient. Overall, I enjoyed my stay.

I am 8 months pregnant/ high risk due to having one kidney and preclampsia. I just ate lunch here today at 1pm and asked to use WiFi to contact my OB to make sure I can eat certain things since they have me on super strict diet and their lunch menu was extremely limited. The female at the front desk refused and told me she could not give me the Wifi, I told her I'm eating lunch there and the waiter just advised me the front desk could give me a code. I just needed to contact my doctor (I'm very visibly pregnant) so this was insane. I tried explaining one more time and the woman actually started laughing at me. I wouldn't recommend this place to an enemy. This used to be a top tier hotel, my husband and I have stayed there numerous times but after the interaction with this woman and how terrible they are to someone asking for help for a medical situation, I know see why they have such a low star rating now. Customer service is garbage now.

Only stayed here once, so nothing to compare it to. Not many choices of where to stay inside the park. This one was expensive, but to be in the park is awesome. Fantastic, and I mean fantastic, view of half dome from the lawn. Rooms a a bit run down. Valet parking only. Get dinner reservations in advance.

Wonderful stay that generally exceeded our expectations. The construction work is ongoing so you know before you arrive there may be some inconvenience and I guess we were lucky as there was none whilst we were there but the patio area was not accessible. However we were in a refurbished room overlooking Half Dome and the Grounds and you are right in the heart of the valley. The hotel has maintained its sense of history whilst upgrading facilities and the swimming pool is excellent. Staff were super friendly and you can borrow bikes for the day from the hotel which is one of the best ways to explore. Valet parking was fine and our bags were delivered and collected with no expectation of a tip. It is expensive but you pay for the location and higher costs of maintaining such a grand hotel. Restaurant was closed and buffet was poor - see 'Ruby's Inn at Bryce Canyon' if you want to know how to organise a great buffet. We used the room once as it is a great room to see but I don't recommend taking Breakfast or Dinner there until the restaurant is fixed. There are better options elsewhere in the valley. Lovely comfortable bed with no squeaking and plenty of space within the room. Plate of food on arrival which was a nice touch. Plenty of wildlife in the grounds. Expensive but worth it.

What an experience! We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and we were welcomed as if we were the King and Queen. The staff is fantastic. We stayed at The Ahwahnee as we were attending the Bracebridge Dinner (which was amazing). The hotel is old - built in 1927. If you are looking for a 5 star modern hotel, don't stay there. If you are looking for an experience of staying in a piece of California history, you won't be disappointed. The majestic beauty of Yosemite is overwhelming, and the location of the hotel capitalizes on that beauty. Yes, the hotel is undergoing some retrofitting, so some views are obscured, but really only from the main dining room. Some of the carpet could be replaced, but it was clean. We loved our room as we had spectacular views of the mountains, and we were only on the 2nd floor. It is winter in the valley, so it gets cold. Want to warm up? Step into one of the two giant "walk-in" fireplaces. No kidding. One of them even has benches inside. We will definitely go back. It is worth a visit if only to admire the architecture.

If you are visiting Yosemite it is worth the high price and hard-to-get reservation to stay at the Ahwahnee. It is the most centrally located hotel in the Village (very walkable to the welcome center) and is a cultural and historical experience. The hotel is undergoing renovation but all areas were open and had some level of functionality. The rooms are older but clean and fully functional. Wifi works for limited work functionality. The dining room is grand and the food (buffet style when we went) was perfect after a long day outdoors.

Poor value Historical hotel was comfortable and clean, but very warn down common areas. Food was a big let down - especially for the cost. A small number of staff wear miserable faces and attitudes. We left feeling bummed out.
