The City Lodge - Boutique Apartments

I had an incredibly disappointing experience with City Lodge Zagreb. Despite paying for a two-day stay, they canceled my entire booking due to a missed first day without any communication. Attempts to reach them were futile, and their suggestion to raise a claim with *********** was unacceptable. Additionally, when I requested to utilize the second night I had already paid for, it was refused. Their lack of professionalism is evident, and I cannot recommend them to anyone.

The apartment was super convenient and tidy but unfortunately the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. Dirty sink and discarded toiletries in the shower. Would still recommend.

Overall, the room was nice but not what was communicated. Pro’s - Nice room and clean - Central Con’s DECEITFUL COMMUNICATION: Host’s communication was outright deceitful with me. I wrote her in advance asking if the circumstances at this property would accommodate a diagnosed disability and the host assured me that there would be no problem. - Upon arrival, there was a complete lack of accommodation for my health issue which as a result, was compromised and I was barely able to use the property. We paid for three nights but left early in the first morning. We left her place in perfect condition. - ******* requested that the host refund me but the host was not amenable to making the situation right in any way. The host was uncooperative and lacking in professionalism (and human decency). I now question why Jelena’s place showed as available for weeks and I was able to rent it at the last minute. - We had great experiences with other hosts in the rest of Croatia. - NOISE: There was a lot of noise into the wee hours of the morning from drunk people hollering through the neighbourhood. - CIGARETTE: The property had a strong cigarette odor saturated in the unit; their air fresheners did not help. - My disability is recognized under the Human Rights Commissions in developed countries; I offered a doctor’s certificate in advance to support my needs. My experience shows that I would not trust this host again. Instead of a pleasant stay, I faced discrimination.

Communicated in advance with the host and was assured that the space would be suitable. They deliberately lied and refused to refund despite my leaving immediately. Plus, if you aren't a smoker, be ready to become one through loads of SECOND HAND SMOKE The apartment was super-saturated with the smell of cigarettes that no matter how much air fresheners they tried to mask with, it was unbearable. The area was also particularly noisy throughout the wee hours of the morning with drunk rowdy locals. We couldn't close the windows to block out the noise because of the stench of cigarette. Rating of cleanliness reflects cigarette and noise pollution.
