Short stay (1 night) and the plan was to check out the room for future stays. Room was spacious. Comfortable beds. Food offered in the room service menu met my basic, as I’m a picky eater. On very short stays as this, i usually prefer to dine in. Bathroom was small but fine for a solo traveller.
Hotel is clean and old well maintained, ask for water at front office took them 5 minutes and can’t get any water from there . Location is good food and shopping mall within walking distance include a MC Donalds next to hotel .
The airport transfer service was quite convenient. After landing, clearing immigration took only 10 minutes with no issues, and someone was already waiting with a sign upon arrival. The drop-off service, however, might be slightly less frequent.
Bruneians seem very warm and welcoming, and the front desk staff were very patient.
However, the bed was quite small – my feet were hanging off! But I suppose that's consistent with the price point. On the positive side, the room itself was spacious.
Recommend this hotel. Central, easy walk to main sights. They offer pick-up and drop off at airport. We also enjoyed the day trip (09h40-16) that was organized by the hotel with driver 'Boy' who showed us the main attractions, this was very enjoyable and for free! This tour runs most days except for Fri. and Sun. up to 9 people (we were with 5). The staff at reception were helpful and friendly, they booked for me the day tour with agency Freme to Ulu Temburong National Park (canopy tower visit), with pick-up at the hotel and without extra booking fee (same fee as on the website). I highly recommend this tour, it was the highlight of our trip! The hotel is a bit dated, but I did not find this disturbing. Room was a bit small but all amenities were there (fridge, airco, water kettle), good bed and renewed bathroom with very good shower. Would defenitely come back here a next time!
The hotel is in a prime location, close to all attractions, the room is of a suitable size, the surrounding places to eat are also very good, and the hotel service is also very good. The entire Brunei transportation is extremely inconvenient, there are few public transportation and taxis are very expensive.
Probably the only chain hotel in Bandar Seri Begawan, capital of Brunei. Location is great, right in the city centre. Museums and mosques nearby. The hotel itself was fine, however it is looking a little dated now. Could do with a renovation. Saying that, all amenities worked well and the pool was nice enough to take a dip to beat the heat.
Tip: download the Dart APP (Brunei's answer to Uber/Grab) and change some money (Brunei dollars or Singapore dollars are accepted everywhere).
The room was very good and very close to the airport, only about three kilometers. The price/performance ratio should be said to be very high. The only drawback is that the introduction says there is a free shuttle bus to the airport, but in fact there is not. You have to call a taxi yourself, so this is quite troublesome.
Overall, the hotel is clean and tidy. Don't expect too much; the facilities are typical of a 2000s 5-star hotel. If you need to use your computer or connect it to the TV, you need to bring your own cable. The hotel still uses the round satellite TV cable from 2000, and doesn't have VGA/HDMI cables. The charging port uses a British plug. Downstairs is a shopping mall, one of the better ones in the area, with Rolex, Tudor, Patches, and a souvenir shop, KFC.
I booked a junior suite, which is spacious and has a twin bed and a bathtub. The furniture in the room is new, but the bed is not. The bathroom also looks old, but it's good enough. It's near a famous gym and coffee shop, a 2-3 minute walk away. There is a free airport transfer to save money on a taxi. If you're looking into the near waterfront, Jubilee is a good location.
The interior decoration of the hotel room is still relatively old. It feels like a domestic guest house. The high price is not in line with the actual environment. There are no restaurants and supermarkets near the hotel, so life is inconvenient.

The Empire Brunei 🇧🇳
After all the walking yesterday, today was all about rilexing in style—and what better place than the legendary Empire Brunei?
✅ And yes—it absolutely lived up to the hype. 😍
This place is more than just a hotel. It's basically its own little kingdom. Here’s what they offer:
🏀 Full country club (basketball, squash, badminton, table tennis, pools 🎱)
🏊♂️ Indoor swimming pools & jacuzzis
🏖️ Private beaches & lagoons
🚴♀️ Kayaks & bicycles
🎥 On-site cinema
👶 Kids Club
🍽️ 4 Restaurants
⛳ Golf course
🚙 Buggy rides everywhere (the place is huge!)
We booked a Dart ride from Jubilee Hotel and arrived around 11AM. Although check-in was supposed to be at 2PM, we were warmly greeted by Hafiz at the front desk. He invited us to explore the facilities while we waited. Then… surprise! Our room was ready by 12PM and we even got a free upgrade to the Ocean King Sea View Room.
Influencer perks? Maybe 😎 (Just kidding 😂).
Thank you, Empire Brunei!
A buggy took us straight to our room—and wow, it was huge, luxurious, and the sea view was something else. 🌊
Lunch was at Pantai Restaurant. My son loves the mini burgers 🍔 while we enjoyed the ocean breeze and relaxed atmosphere. Afterwards, we wandered the lobby and took in the stunning architecture—those iconic golden pillars are a masterpiece. 🏛️
After prayers, we changed into sport/swimwear and headed to the Country Club. I jumped into a pickup basketball game with two lads from the UK while wifey and my son relaxed in the indoor pool and jacuzzi nearby. 🏀🛁
Later, we visited the Kids Club— My son splashed happily while we took a breather. Just before sunset, we found a quiet spot outside. Brunei’s sunset? Absolutely underrated. 🌅
To wrap up the day, we stayed in for dinner (room service KA dendeng 😅). FYI, you need to put down a deposit to order room service. We were way too tired to head out again anyway.
Rating?
Empire Brunei = ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (7 stars, obviously 😂)
Truly a 10/10 experience—elegant, peaceful, and unforgettable.
Feeling recharged and grateful.

NNicWangNothing but 5 stars.
Lets start with the location. Not very far from town as you can see from map. Neighbouring local kampung houses. Just below the hotel there is one fine restaurant that looks premium.
Embun doesnt have many rooms, they gave me the room just behind the reception. Dont expect someone to man the counter, just press the bell and Mr Jimmy will come running. A superb friendly and attentivve gentleman.
Room is very comfortable and very clean. Towel provided is clean. Water pressure and great with heater. It is very chilly in the morning if you aretakingt bath. Yes we are facing mangroove swamp and a nice huge river. Best part, TV is great with youtube.
Apart from some board games at common hangout area, there is a pool at the back of the hotel facing the river. U cant really swim, just dip and enjoy the view. N
Parking wise not an isue as there spaces for at least 9 cars.
Now comes breakfast, not your usual hotel buffet, they served your breakfast personally with some nice omelette, local kuih and oranges. Very delicious.
Will i come back again? Yes. Better than J Hotel which I frequent. Although embun doesnt have smart lighting and etc like J hotel where we uses a old school key to access our room, but the human side of Embun wins hands down. Love this hotel.

GGuest UserGood location, in the city center, three minutes walk to Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, three minutes walk to Sultan Memorial Hall, two minutes walk to Water Village Pier, less than one minute walk to Brunei Royal Plaza, two minutes walk to the shopping center, there is a large supermarket in the basement of the shopping center, all kinds of goods are very complete. There are many restaurants in the shopping center, which is convenient for eating. I checked out of the original hotel before 12 noon because of the flight at 2 am the next day, and temporarily booked a small single room to rest and take a shower before going to the airport. The price is relatively cheap, the main disadvantage is that there is only one bathroom for all the rooms in the youth hostel, and the toilet and shower are all in it. If there are many guests, there will definitely be problems and it will take a long time to wait.
AAmal SanifI stayed with my families here and booked the room via trip and hotel, the price per night for this hotel unfortunately doesn’t feel like worth it. I am hoping to see major renovation and cleaning, the hotel need massive upgrade, everything is too old, twin room is 2 probably super single bed or is actually 2 single bed, while other country at this rate has twin room with huge super single or double bed. The breakfast is just okay, with toast, cornflakes, some other menu like nasi lemak, noodles and rice porridge. This area has no access to public transport unless you walk towards the main road.. the extreme cleaning in the room, carpets need to change or clean with soap. The only good thing.. i haven’t seen any bed bugs.
JjoshuaelaineThe two rooms are actually three rooms, the middle one is an open kitchen and living room. The location is not good, except for the supporting commercial area downstairs, you must have a car when you go out. The staff is very nice, the only hotel where there is nothing wrong with the front desk to the room service. There is a free airport shuttle. Later, I heard that I needed to buy medicine, and I specially arranged for someone to drive us out without any cost. There are service points of large car rental companies, and travel services can also be booked with hotels. The commercial facilities are quite complete, and there will be locals eating a work meal at noon.
GGuest UserCheck in time is strictly at 2pm.
Bed a bit hard (For me)
Gym quite run down or under renovation.
However it's quite convenient as the supermarket is just downstairs.
