The glamour of Cannes

Best known for the glamorous film festival, this tiny seaside town in the French Riviera is one for a short getaway. There is not much to do or any different from other options on the French Riviera. But the film festival and its beaches, resorts, and the vibe certainly add a hint of elegance to it. Cannes has an amazing assortment of extraordinary restaurants. While all may not suit a common travellers budget, the options remain diverse. Same goes for shopping. There are plenty of small to bigger sized boutiques with clothing options not just limited to luxurious. Especially the stores along the Croisette. It has a port and a lot of yachts and cruises tend to come and go. Which brings me to the next point, Cannes can be an excellent base for exploring several other options on the French Riviera. You can take the ferry to Saint Tropez, Saint Marguerite Island, or Lerins Islands. With the train, you can see Monaco or Nice. For strolls within town you have the gorgeous old city and local markets. It's got museums and cultural centres too. It's got good weather and plenty of reasons for the holiday. #100waysoftravel #cannes #cherryblossom2024 #france #summerdestinations #europe #myhiddengems #filmfestival

#celebratewithtrip #france #frenchriviera #cannes #ferry #island Take a Ferry to St. Marguerite Island This is one of the famous landmarks in the area. We didn’t have the time to go to the island but did see it from afar from the castle hill. This is where it took the Man in the Iron Mask 11 years to leave the tiny, forested St Marguerite Island. The mysterious individual was believed to be of noble blood, but his identity has never been proven. His cell can be visited in the Fort of St Marguerite, now renamed the MusĂ©e de la Mer (Museum of the Sea). This museum also houses discoveries from shipwrecks off the island, including Roman (1st century BC) and Saracen (10th century AD) ceramics.
