The City of Spanish Palaces

The Alhambra is located on a hill in the province of Granada in southern Spain. It was the royal palace of the Emirate of Granada, established by the Moors during the Middle Ages, and its construction began in the 13th century under the reign of King Al-Ahmar and his successors. The Alhambra is a quintessential example of the perfect fusion of Islamic architecture and gardening skills. 'Alhambra' in Arabic means 'The Red Fortress', and it is the essence of all the Moorish monuments left in Spain, known as the 'City of Palaces', 'World Wonder', and 'The Alcazar of Spain'. In terms of architectural history, the Alhambra, like the Epang Palace and the Bronze Sparrow Terrace in China, is a culmination of aesthetic art. The charm of the Alhambra lies not only in the extremely high artistic standard of its interior decoration but also in the perfect integration of the overall architecture with the surrounding natural environment, creating an unparalleled and magnificent landscape. In 1984, it was listed as a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO.
