Xiaolian Manor

Xiaolian Manor was my first stop in Nanxun. It is the private garden of Liu Yong, the richest man in the late Qing Dynasty, featuring a unique blend of Chinese and Western styles. The core of the garden is the ten-acre lotus pond, which is most beautiful when the lotus flowers bloom in summer. The pavilions and terraces around the pond are excellent spots for photography. Dongsheng Pavilion is a small Western-style building with a blend of Chinese and Western elements; it was the boudoir of Miss Liu and has a distinctive exterior. The Stele Corridor houses more than 40 steles, including the authentic work of "Prime Minister Liu Luoguo." The Liu Family Ancestral Hall has two imperial archways at the front, with a grand courtyard, serving as the place for the Liu family to worship their ancestors. 1. The century-old wisteria tree in the garden symbolizes wealth and honor; you can touch it for good luck as you pass by. 2.
