Nuogan Ancient Village

Nuogan Village is a natural village under the Jingmai Village Committee of Huimin Hani Ethnic Township, Lancang Lahu Autonomous County, Pu'er City, Yunnan Province. It is located in the core area of the ten-thousand-mu ancient tea garden of Jingmai Mountain, characterized by mountainous terrain. It is 6 kilometers from the village committee and 26 kilometers from the township seat. The land area is 5.55 square kilometers, with an elevation of 1450 meters, an average annual temperature of 19.4°C, and an annual rainfall of 1800 millimeters. By the end of 2021, the village had 98 households and 352 people. It preserves 334 complete traditional Dai stilted houses, including 140 old village traditional houses with a 100% preservation rate, and 94 of these are listed as cultural heritage buildings. The village covers an area of about 45,000 square meters, arranged concentrically around the village center. The Buddhist temple complex includes the temple gate, Buddha hall, precept hall, and other facilities. The village is located in the core area of the Jingmai Mountain ancient tea garden cluster and, together with more than ten natural villages such as Banggai Village, Longbang Village, and Nanzuo Village, forms the Jingmai Mountain ancient tea garden system covering an area of 28,000 mu. The total tea garden area is about 146 hectares, and the ancient tea forest was listed in 2012 as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. The village has implemented a settlement renovation project, completing roof repairs of residences, pest and corrosion treatment of wooden components, and drainage system upgrades, with 96% of cultural heritage buildings restored. Streams run through the village, which is laid out along the mountains and water, and the village center features five sacred pillars symbolizing multi-ethnic unity.
