Encountering Double Luck at Laojun Mountain

Climbed alone on the first day of December, saw Tyndall light, and welcomed a snowfall—this is currently the best and most ultimate experience in Luoyang!!! Here are some tips for reference~ Since I was alone, I joined a tour group. We left the hotel at 9:50 AM and arrived at the Level 1 cableway entrance at 1 PM. There were quite a few people in line, but I got on within 10 minutes. The Level 2 cableway had very few people and no queue. At 1:45 PM, I got off the cableway and started walking. (I took both Level 1 and Level 2 cableways up and down the mountain, which made the whole trip quite easy and suitable for girls with average stamina~) After getting off the cableway, there is the first fork. Taking the Wonderland Tunnel leads directly to the Ten-Mile Painting Screen, but I chose the other path, which added about 20 more minutes. (I think it’s definitely worth it because this path has fewer people, a very open view, and it was when I saw the Tyndall light—absolutely beautiful~) The second fork is at the Taibai Slope Service Area. To the left is flat ground leading directly to the Taoist temple cluster, and to the right are wooden stairs up to the Funiu Peak, which only takes a little longer but climbing the stairs is a bit tiring. (I also think it’s worth climbing because Funiu Peak is the highest peak of Laojun Mountain. Since you’re here, you might as well experience the panoramic view.) The most important thing is that it started snowing as soon as I reached the summit—southerners like me were ecstatic!!! I was really so happy. Then going down the stairs leads to the Taoist temple cluster. It was about 3:20 PM by then, meaning I had walked for a total of 1 hour and 35 minutes, over 11,000 steps. I stopped often to take many photos and wasn’t very tired—quite easy actually~ After reaching the temple cluster, I visited all five temples one by one with sincerity—faith makes it effective!!! After finishing, I ate and drank while waiting for the lights to turn on. There were many food and drink options on the mountain, and the prices were reasonable~ After the lights turned on at 5:30 PM, I took photos and immediately went down. There were no lines for either cableway. I got down by 6 PM. There were also many food options at the foot of the mountain, so I wasn’t hungry at all and ate and drank while waiting for the group to gather and depart~ (After going down, my step count was over 15,000) What I wore: I wore a fleece-lined base layer and a long down coat (180g filling), thermal leggings, and fleece sweatpants (enough, as long as you don’t stand in the wind it’s not cold). Be sure to bring a hat because the wind on the mountain is strong! Gloves are recommended because the stairs up and down the Golden Summit on both sides are steep and you need to hold onto the iron chains, which are icy cold. I also wore a scarf, mask, and down inner layer, but didn’t use the last two. Trekking poles are optional, but if it snows, I recommend bringing them because the ground will be slippery. It’s best to wear moisture-wicking or not-too-thick socks; otherwise, your feet might get hot and sweaty, which is uncomfortable~
