The Oasis in the City: Sakae Meitetsu Station

Nagoya Castle is a popular destination, and many visitors make their way to Sakae Meitetsu Station to explore the area. There are two major attractions here: the Nagoya TV Tower and Oasis 21, which are just a street apart. Oasis 21 is located in the heart of Nagoya and serves as both a shopping mall and a transportation hub. It's also a stunning piece of architecture. The name 'Spaceship Aqua' comes from its grand design, which appears to float in mid-air, making it a perfect place to relax and unwind. The Nagoya TV Tower is situated in Hisaya Odori Park and was completed on June 19, 1954. It is recognized as Japan's first steel-integrated radio tower. Tokyo Tower and Sapporo Tower were built in 1958 and 1957, respectively, highlighting the pioneering nature of the Nagoya TV Tower. As a tourist attraction, it has been in operation for over 50 years and is registered as a tangible cultural property.

Hisaya Odori Park

I would call this a simple area, like a staging area for activities and events. It is definitely in the center of the city, just a few stops from Nagoya Station, Hisaya Odori Station is named after the park. Normally, this park would seem open and more empty, for strolling and going down underground in the basement level to see the food and shops. This underground connects with the Oasis 21 area, which is a quick detour to visit. There is a Don Quijote (and even Book Off, Off House and Hobby Off) nearby. I would recommend the Book Off Bazaar for real connoisseurs of used and second-hand items, the product they offer really gives a taste of Nagoya styles, fashion and interests. This is a great central park, and a staging area if you're visiting the Harbor, or Zoo, heading in different directions. And hopefully, the food and game vendors are there often, because it adds a sense of charm and history to the park along with all the other celebrations going on at the same time. #givethanks #givethanks
