Qufu, Jining | Yan Temple, the Temple of the Repeated Sage, a disciple of Confucius who never changed his joy Qufu Yan Temple, also known as the Temple of the Repeated Sage, is a temple dedicated to Yan Zi and is listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit. Yan Temple is divided into three routes and five courtyards, with 24 buildings from the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, totaling 159 rooms. There are 53 stone inscriptions from the Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. Yan Zi, also known as Yan Hui, courtesy name Ziyuan, was Confucius' most accomplished disciple. Confucius once praised Yan Zi, "How virtuous is Hui! With a single bamboo basket of food and a single gourd of drink, he lives in a humble alley. Others cannot bear such hardship, but Hui never changes his joy. How virtuous is Hui!" When Emperor Gaozu of Han offered sacrifices to Confucius with the highest level of ceremony, he also offered sacrifices to Yan Hui, who was ranked first among the seventy-two sages. During the Wei, Jin, and Southern and Northern Dynasties, when the state held Buddhist ceremonies, Confucius was honored as the First Sage and Yan Hui as the First Teacher. Emperor Taizong of Tang also honored Confucius as the First Sage and Yan Zi as the First Teacher, while Emperor Xuanzong of Tang honored him as the Sub-Sage and Duke of Yan, Emperor Zhenzong of Song conferred him the title of Duke of Yan, and Emperor Wenzong of Yuan honored him as the Duke of Yan and the Repeated Sage. In the ninth year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming dynasty, he was renamed the Repeated Sage. The main hall, the Hall of the Repeated Sage, enshrines a statue of Yan Zi. It was first built in the Yuan dynasty, with surrounding corridors supported by stone columns. The four columns in the front corridor are carved with cloud dragons, while the four side columns are carved with dragons, phoenixes, and flowers, which are relics from the Ming dynasty. Inside the hall hangs a plaque inscribed with "Purely Embodying the Sage" by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing dynasty. The original site of the humble alley had an ancient well, which was said to be used by Yan Zi, hence the name "Yan Zi Well." During the Xining reign of the Song dynasty, "Kong Junzonghan, the governor of Jiaoxi, first obtained the land, dredged and repaired the well, and built a pavilion on top of it."

Been to this play in Jining, Shandong and loved it. The play apparently is quite famous, and had the chance to take a picture with one of the main actors (he played the bad guy). The story of a girl who left her home to be a scholar (something that only boys did) and blablabla, love and hate, fight and peace, and a happy ending in a musical sort of fashion. Surprised? There are so many places to visit in Jining, Shandong. We have visited the Confucius Temple, the Confucius Museum, and then we went to visit the Meng Mansion and Meng Temple. We toured the entire hometown of Confucius and Mencius. Shandong Jining is truly a place of outstanding people and spiritual land. Before visiting the Meng Mansion and Meng Temple, we first went to the South Lake Park in Jining for a stroll. ❤Recommended reason: The South Lake Park has a history of a thousand years. The park is not very large, only about 34 hectares, but the park is mainly green, surrounded by green trees, and it has an ancient charm, with a unique style and artistic conception. 👍Most recommended: The scale of Meng Mansion and Meng Temple is much smaller than that of Confucius Mansion and Confucius Temple. I discovered a treasure hotel in Jining

While taking my family to visit the Nishan Sacred Land in Qufu, I came across a treasure hotel. The front desk service was excellent, and they even prepared special slippers and dental kits for children. We were very satisfied with our room, and the hotel made a special arrangement for us to be on the same floor for the convenience of taking care of the family. The room was spacious and clean, with good sound insulation. There was a refrigerator in the room, stocked with six bottles of water! There was also a smart toilet and a robot for delivery. The hotel's location is very convenient, right opposite an outlet (Maple Leaf Town), and there is a large shopping mall nearby, making dining and shopping very convenient. There is also a park behind the hotel, which is great for taking a walk with children. The breakfast was very rich and tasty, with a wide variety of fruits and yogurt drinks. The hotel is located in the high-tech zone, and it only takes an hour to reach the scenic area by elevated road, which is very convenient for travel. Here we can enjoy the quiet time with our family, and the visit to the scenic spots the next day went smoothly.

As a native who has lived in Jining for more than twenty years, this was my first visit to Taibai Tower. Taibai Tower was originally known as 'Taibai Tavern', a tavern operated by the Helan family during the Tang Dynasty. Its original location was inside the east gate of ancient Rencheng (near today's Xiaozhakou). The great Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai moved with his wife Xu Shi and daughter Pingyang from Anlu in Hubei to Rencheng (Jining) in the 24th year of Emperor Xuanzong's reign (736 AD), living in front of the tavern, 'often feasting with comrades in the tavern'.
