Self driving from SHA Airport to hotel around 40 minutes. it's 5 star hotel service as usual as intercontinental is. the breakfast was rich and many different kinds of food to choose. we can watch the water show on the balcony of room at 2030. and water light show carries on every hour at the lobby.

I have always been fascinated by this hotel since they first opened. It is located in ex-mining area. Lobby is at the top-most floor and all the guests room are “underground”, with one more floor underwater. Went there for a special collaboration between Intercontinental Hotel and BYMB for a yoga & meditation getaway and my favorite part is the last sound-healing meditation “underwater”. 🐟 It was Sunday and the hotel was packed!! We only managed to get a room by 4:30PM (regular check-in starts from 12:00). The room was standard. Breakfast was amazing. However the gym and swimming pool were underwhelming (definitely not the type of swimming pool you’d like for a sports-swim). Other than that, glad that I finally able to visit this hotel! I was sceptical when my partner first suggested spending a weekend at the Shanghai Wonderland hotel in Songjiang as our destination and main weekend attraction. However, I was wrong, the hotel has so much to offer. The hotel is built in an old quarry and every room has excellent views of it. The room price is one of the most expensive in shanghai with a cheap room rate costing about 3000rmb, however, it is worth it. You will want to spend half a day just exploring the hotel and taking photos. It is an engineering marvel. There is also a great indoor swimming pool. We paid for a buffet lunch and sat on the restaurant balcony. The food was excellent with one of the best lasagnes I have ever tasted. In the evening there was a light show in the quarry which was visible from the hotel rooms. We had a lot of fun in the weekend and didn’t feel the need to leave the hotel all weekend.

Room type: Sapphire Deluxe King Room, over 2k for two adults and one child including breakfast. We stayed in room 01, which is the last room on the floor. The large area right after entering is a wasted space, so be cautious if you mind staying in the last room. Breakfast: It was the worst breakfast I've had at any InterContinental hotel, and the lunch was the same. Communication was poor at the entrance where people queued up, pushing and shoving. There weren't many options, and it was neither refined nor had any local specialties. Cleanliness: Overall cleanliness was good, the hairdryer was a Dyson, and I checked that the filter was clean inside. Service: There was a dedicated butler who contacted us even before we checked in. The response was timely and the communication skills were strong. Water temperature and pressure: The shower had enough water pressure and the temperature was appropriate. The drainage was good, with no blockages in the sink, bathroom, or bathtub. Features: The cliff show about 'Classic of Mountains and Seas' at 8:30 every evening was too good to miss, and there was also a water screen show in the hotel lobby every day.
