Stayed here for the Summer Sizzler baseball tournament. Stay was good and the only issue was the elevator was broken and one of our young children stuck in the elevator screaming for help. We avoided the elevator the rest of the weekend and no biggie as there are only 3 floors. Well, until check out that is. There were no luggage carts available so we hauled all of our weekend items, bags, coolers, baseball gear, etc. down. When we went back upstairs to use our bathroom and make sure we got everything in our room, with our key that we still had, the housekeeping woman was already in our room at 10:30 and would not allow us back in, saying we had already checked out, which I had not! I had NOT yet told the front desk we were checking out and we still had the room util 11. Left behind was an outfit, a medication bag including some expensive items (epi pen, prescriptions) and a pair of one month old Nike air max shoes. We paid $311.36 for the weekend at this hotel. The front desk has been wonderful, they found my med bag, have kindly taken my 3 phone calls hoping they retrieved my shoes from housekeeping to no avail. I am now out over $100 for a pair of shoes and another $150+ in medication unless I made the 3 hour drive and $70 in gas to drive halfway across the state to retrieve my bag. May be worth it if they would get my shoes from the housekeeper that cleaned our room. I’d love to update this review that the housekeeper was reprimanded or decided to do the right thing and return my shoes. If not, more than I paid for my stay was taken, left, or needs to be spent to get back at this hotel and unfortunately, I will be contacting Central Iowa Sports and Iowa USSSA Baseball to inform them of this situation and hopefully take this hotel off their list of hotels they place the families in. All these teams travel with a lot of money in equipment, it’s a shame that we have to worry about housekeeping helping themselves to our belonging or entering our rooms without permission.
