Αcheron Springs

Αcheron Springs

Αcheron Springsin the Epirus region of Greece is an enchanting destination where nature and mythology intertwine, serving as both a paradise for outdoor adventurers and a peaceful retreat for connecting with nature. Its source lies in the mountains of Epirus, featuring crystal-clear spring water and winding streams, all surrounded by dense forests, limestone canyons, and valleys. The water is ice-cold at the source, but it gradually warms as it flows downstream. Along the banks, you will find white stones and towering ancient trees. The air, filled with the scent of forest and water, makes you feel completely removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. In ancient Greek mythology, the Acheron is one of the rivers leading to the underworld, which souls must cross by ferry to enter Hades (the underworld). This myth adds a touch of mystery to the area. Visitors can walk along the riverbank to the source or wade through the water, experiencing the refreshing chill and the raw, natural beauty of the river. For those who enjoy water activities, options such as kayaking and light rafting are available.Fanari · 36.7km from Arta

The ruins of Delphi are religious sites in the classical period of Greece. The ruins are located in the foothills of Parnassos, northwest of Athens. They are named after the Delphi people who lived there. Founded in the 7th century BC, it was considered the center of the world in ancient Greece, the religious center and a symbol of unity in ancient Greece. Delphi is the more important temple in all the Greek places, because this temple is dedicated to the sun god Apollo, the god of knowledge, light, music and medicine in the ancient Greek beliefs. There are also an open-air theater and a holy road in the ruins area. On both sides of the holy road, there are gift vaults, altars, monuments, colonnades, etc. built by the Greek states to worship the gods. Archaeological excavations of the Delphi site system started in 1892, and all the ancient buildings in the temple area have been cleared and a museum has been built.Greece · Phocis

Corinth Canalis a unique view that blends human engineering with natural terrain. The canal cuts through the hard rock of the isthmus, directly connecting the Saronic Gulf on the Aegean Sea side with the Gulf of Corinth on the Ionian Sea side, allowing ships to cross this narrow strip of land without having to sail around the Peloponnese peninsula. The canal is approx. 6 km long, the waterway is at sea level with no locks, showcasing the ingenuity of its construction and adding a breathtaking sight to the coastal landscape of Greece. The canal cuts deep into the ground from the surface, forming a narrow and straight gorge, with limestone cliffs on both sides rising nearly vertically, tens of meters above the water.Greece · Loutraki-Perachora

Navagio Beach Viewpointis located on the northwest coast of Zakynthos, Greece, and is a classic spot for enjoying a panoramic view of Navagio. With its open view and elevated position, you can take in the entire outline of the bay, the white pebble beach, the rusted shipwreck, and the rich, layered shades of blue water. Looking down from near the viewpoint, the bay is surrounded on three sides by nearly vertical white limestone cliffs. The massive cliffs rise from the coast, showcasing a rugged and spectacular landscape. Below the cliffs, a white pebble beach stretches along the bay, and the shipwreck, stranded for years, rests quietly on the shore. The rusted hull creates a striking contrast with the surrounding pristine natural scenery. The charm of the viewpoint also lies in the changing light and shadows throughout the day. On clear days, the sunlight makes the colors of the water even more vibrant, and the white cliffs and blue sea create a strong contrast, making it perfect for taking classic panoramic photos.Greece · Elation

Beautiful and magnificent. Wear comfortable shoes and take a hat. I wasn’t well prepared for the amount of walking.

This was taken on the Acropolis: Temple of Victory (Figure 3), Parthenon (Figure 5. Still under renovation), Erechtheion (Figures 4 and 5), Dionysus Theatre, Atticus Theatre. The guided tour I bought a day in advance was very good. We set off at 5pm, just as the sun was about to set. It was not hot at all, and there were not many tourists. The tour guide was a historian, and the content he introduced along the way was very detailed. Including the story behind the construction of the Acropolis Museum, the trees on the Acropolis Hill, the Acropolis has experienced several disasters and historical changes, Athens' efforts in the field of international recovery of cultural relics (to the British Museum), the story of Dionysus, the god of medicine, the goddess of war, the goddess of wisdom, and the three main gods Poseidon. Another surprise is that there are so many cats in the Acropolis! They are the only guests who can enter and exit the temple at will. The staff will regularly put cat food for the stray cats.

The ruins of Ancient Delphi are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Walk into the ruins, walk up the stone steps to the ruins, stand in front of the ruins, and look out at the mountains in the distance. This is the center of the earth.

We stopped in Zakynthos on our drive to Athens. The narrow, man-made canal, with its towering, steep cliffs, is visually stunning. Standing on the bridge, the cliffs appear nearly 100 meters high – truly breathtaking. We arrived late, so we missed the daytime blue-green waters, but the warm, dusky lights illuminating the banks and the long, narrow canal stretching into the distance created a captivating atmosphere. We were still awestruck by the magnificent sight. No need to take a special detour; a short stop off the highway is perfect for sightseeing and definitely worth stopping for.
