Matsu Islands are located in the northwest of the Taiwan Strait and are composed of over 20 islands of various sizes, including Nangan, Beigan, Dongyin, and Juguang. During the transition from spring to summer, a magical phenomenon appears along the coast here: at night, as the waves crash, fluorescent blue dots continuously appear, making the entire coastline look like a sea of sapphire stars, reminiscent of a scene from the movie "Life of Pi." People call this the "Blue Tears." The "Blue Tears" spectacle has been listed by CNN as one of the world's 15 natural wonders and is known as the "Pride of Taiwan," sparking a "tear-chasing" craze in recent spring and summer seasons. Among the four townships and five islands, Nangan and Juguang often feature Blue Tears, and they are also commonly seen on Daqiu in Beigan.Matsu · 8.8km from downtown

Meizhou, the birthplace of Mazu, is connected to Mazu in the cave of Mazu. It is very big, so the "Mazu Cultural Festival" is held every year. According to legend, Matsu Island was the place where Mazu (commonly known as Lin Moniang) attained Taoism. Later, the villagers in Meizhou welcomed Mazu's body back and left a burial on Matsu Island.Matsu · 1.1km from downtown

The Beihai Tunnel is located between Renai Village and Meishi Village on the Matsu Islands. It was once a tunnel pier dug by the Taiwanese military in 1968 for the strategic needs of sheltering from wind and waves and shelling from the other side. It has now become a tourist attraction. The very well-known landscape in the tunnel is the reflection of the rock wall in the water. After being projected on the calm and waveless water, another tunnel is formed, which deepens the illusion of the height of the tunnel. It is quite spectacular; there are many gunpowders shot by air compressors on the rock wall. The hole shows the difficulty of digging at that time. Visitors can walk along the rock wall with a length of about 700 meters, and it takes about 30 minutes to make a detour.Matsu · 2.2km from downtown

Qinbi, formerly known as "Jinggang," is a representative settlement of Eastern Fujian architecture in Matsu. It is well-preserved and highly favored by the architectural, cultural, and artistic communities both at home and abroad. With its back to the mountains and facing the sea, Qinbi was developed by the Chen family from Heshang, Changle, Fujian, during the late Qing Dynasty. The houses are built of granite and arranged in a terraced pattern along the mountain slope, stacked layer upon layer in a well-ordered, picturesque manner. The houses in Qinbi are built in a terraced fashion along the mountain slope, bearing a strong resemblance to Mediterranean architecture in Greece, which has earned it the nickname "Matsu's Mediterranean" and made it a favorite among many influencers.Matsu · 8.8km from downtown

Matsu is made up of several islands including Beigan, Nangan and Dongying. Each island is not big, with a population of only about 6,000 at most, but each has its own characteristics. One of the main features of Matsu is to visit the islands and mountains in summer and see the blue tears.

Mazu is the goddess who protects the coastal areas... The Mazu statue in Nangan looks at the Mazu in Fuzhou on the other side of the river...

During the day, rowing allows you to see the tunnels in detail, but there's no need to participate in rowing at night. You can hardly see anything, just a few white starlight dots. It's a completely dark cruise ship, your hands will get tired, and you'll end up spending a lot of money—it's pointless.

The main building materials of the houses are granite and marble. In order to prevent the strong sea breeze, dense stones are pressed on the tiles. The whole Qinbi is like a stone city, built with rough stones, which is the characteristic of coastal architecture in eastern Fujian.
