I spent the weekend reading at an independent bookstore by the rice paddies. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooked the entire rice field, and the swaying rice stalks in the breeze were a soothing sight. The coffee prices were similar to chain coffee shops, and the desserts were all baked by the owner—just the right amount of sweetness. There were no noisy crowds taking photos; only the soft rustling of pages. Spending an afternoon there in peace and quiet was so much more comfortable than those trendy bookstores in the bustling city center. It allowed me to gradually calm down, and when I left after finishing a book, I was enveloped in the fresh scent of rice—it was so relaxing.
