Bullring of the Royal Cavalry of Ronda

4.5/5

Ronda Bullring is an ancient bullring in Spain and a place of pilgrimage for bullfighters. It is in this bullring that the modern bullfighting method in Spain was born. This circular building can accommodate 5,000 spectators and is juxtaposed with 136 thick Tuscan-style stone columns, which is deeply historically heavy. The famous bullfighters in the history of Spanish bullfighting, such as PedroRomero, Antonio Ordonez, etc., have all fought with bulls here. In the past, bullfighting was the exclusive activity of the nobles, and the nobles who participated in the activities rode horses to fight the bulls. Until a nobleman was not skilled and was rammed by the bull, he turned his head on his back. At the moment when his life was dying, a commoner rushed into the field and waved his hat to lead the bull away. His move not only relieved the nobles, but also helped the nobles. It opened a new era of bullfighters dismounting and fighting bulls for the Ronda Bullring. In the museum attached to the bullring, people can also see artifacts such as the bullfighting clothes worn by the famous bullfighter Antonio Ordonez, who was admired by Hemingway. In order to maintain this "heritage", bullfights are held here only on special festivals, but tourists can buy tickets to visit.Ronda · 676m from downtown

Longda New Bridge is the landmark building of Longda Town. One end of the bridge is connected to Longda Old Town, standing on the cliff, giving people a thrilling and magnificent feeling. The new bridge is paved with stone slabs, which have become as dark and shiny as black onyx blocks because of the baptism of the years. Standing on the bridge and looking around, all you can see are the beautiful Ronda Mountains. To feel the grandeur of the new bridge, you can walk down the steps from one side of the bridge into the canyon and admire the building from another angle. There is also a new bridge interactive media center in the canyon, where you can deepen your understanding of the new bridge through physical display and video materials.Ronda · 731m from downtown

El Tajo de Ronda is a natural wonder in the Andalusia region. The gorge was carved over the ages by the Guadalevín and is over 100m deep, dividing Ronda into two halves: the old town, which retains its Moorish charm, on one side and the newer city on the other. A well-known sight here is the Puente Nuevo. Centro de Interpretación, an 18th-century stone bridge that spans the gorge with its deck nearly 100m above the valley floor. The combination of the stone bridge and the deep gorge creates the classic image of this cliffside city. Visitors can look down into the gorge from the bridge to enjoy magnificent natural views and panoramic cityscapes. The viewing platforms below the bridge offer great photo opportunities, especially at sunset, when the interplay of light and shadow makes for enchanting scenery. Strolling along the trails on the edge of the gorge allows you to more deeply experience the power of nature and the weight of history.Ronda · 738m from downtown

Old Bridge of Ronda

16 reviews
Old Bridge of Ronda is the oldest of the three bridges spanning the city's gorge. Its origins are debated, with most theories suggesting it was first built during the Moorish period. The current single-arch stone bridge was rebuilt in the early 17th century after the original was destroyed by floods, predating the Puente Nuevo. Centro de Interpretación by over a century. The bridge is small, with a single stone arch spanning the Guadalevín. The deck is paved with stone and is for pedestrians only. Walking on it, undisturbed by traffic, feels more relaxed than the area around the new bridge. There are four small viewing platforms on the bridge railings that extend over the river, allowing you to look down at the gorge and the water below. At the southern end stands the 18th-century Arco de Felipe, and the viewing platform next to the gate offers a classic vantage point for overlooking the entire bridge.Ronda · 733m from downtown

Setenil de Las Bodegas

Setenil de Las Bodegas

4.9
Setenil de Las Bodegas is a white town in Cadiz Province, Andalusia, Spain, famous for its unique view of dwellings built under giant rocks. The uniqueness of this place lies not just in its clever construction, but in the fact that the terrain itself dictated this way of life. The town is situated in a canyon carved by the Trejo River. The giant rocks and cliffs on both sides of the valley naturally formed sheltered spaces, where people gradually built homes, established streets, and made a living along the rock walls, following the natural terrain. This layout, built against the rock, is both practical and visually striking, making the entire town appear as if it "grew" out of the mountain. Visitors can drink coffee and have lunch in restaurants sheltered by rock, experiencing the sensation of having "a rock for a roof," which is one of the town's signature experiences. For a panoramic view, you can climb to the high vantage points or castle ruins to look down upon the intricate structure of white houses, canyons, and giant rocks. Setenil de Las Bodegas is small but full of character. It possesses both the gentleness of an Andalusian white village and the unique, resilient nature of being enveloped by giant rocks—a legendary town that has transformed natural terrain into a living space.Setenil de las Bodegas · 13.2km from Ronda

Built in the 13th and 14th centuries, this Arabic bath is in Arabic style, with a vault supported by thin columns, allowing light to penetrate through the dome. The bathroom mimics the structure of a Roman bath and is divided into: cold, warm and hot baths. There is also a special area in the bathroom for customers to drink tea and chat. Sadly, the bathroom is no longer in use due to its age, but is open to visitors.Ronda · 826m from downtown

The Moorish House is a mansion built in the 18th century on the site of an Islamic palace. The building is currently closed, only the gardens and secret passages are open to visitors. Although known as the House of the Moor King, this is not the residence of the Moor King. It is named after a secret passage built by the Moors in the 14th century. This secret passage was dug to prevent the water source from being cut off, and water can be drawn down the mountain from this secret passage. There are more than 300 stone steps in the secret road, which reach the bottom of the valley and can be close to the water.Ronda · 761m from downtown

Ronda's Old Bridge is a bridge connecting the old and new cities of Ronda. Compared with the spectacular new bridge, the old bridge is very inconspicuous. Although it was once broken and repaired, the rebuilt old bridge has a history of 400 years. It is a good place to appreciate the scenery of Ronda's old city.
