Hanshan Temple
Hanshan Temple is located in the western suburbs of Suzhou and has a history of over 1,500 years. It gained worldwide fame through the famous line "Outside Gusu City, Hanshan Temple; midnight bell sounds reach the traveler's boat" from the Tang Dynasty poet Zhang Ji's poem "Mooring by Maple Bridge at Night." Every day, countless devotees come to the temple to strike the bell, offer incense, and pray for peace. Hanshan Temple primarily consists of structures such as the Mahavira Hall, bell tower, stele corridor, and scripture repository. The Mahavira Hall features a tall white marble Sumeru pedestal, atop which sits a gilded statue of Sakyamuni. Flanking the walls are 18 exquisitely crafted gilded iron arhat statues cast during the Chenghua era of the Ming Dynasty, relocated here from the sacred Buddhist site of Mount Wutai. In the stele corridor, visitors can see fragments of inscriptions by Wen Zhengming and Tang Yin—two of the "Four Great Talents of Jiangnan"—as well as poetic steles by notable figures like Yue Fei and Kang Youwei. Particularly iconic is the poetic stele "Mooring by Maple Bridge at Night," inscribed by the renowned late Qing scholar Yu Yue. The bell tower in the temple is the source of the "midnight bell sound," and the resonant, melodious chime is a symbol of Hanshan Temple. Every December 31st, Hanshan Temple holds a bell-ringing ceremony to ring in the new year, striking the bell 108 times to symbolize the dispelling of worries in the coming year. The Red-crowned Crane Park is quite far from the city center. There were many tourists, but because it's so large, it didn't feel crowded. I went outside the red-crowned crane migration season, so I didn't see the spectacular sight of flocks of cranes flying overhead, but there were still performances by artificially bred red-crowned cranes to watch. While not as entertaining, the wetland scenery was truly breathtaking, a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, making it a place I wanted to linger in. I would definitely come back again if I had the chance.

The children's library at Boxin Plaza is truly amazing! The environment is bright and clean, with a wide variety of picture books and children's books. The automatic book lending and returning machine is especially convenient—just put the book on it and you're good to go. There's also a book sterilization machine nearby, which is both worry-free and reassuring…

The Beer Museum has a unique architecture and is great for taking photos, but it's incredibly crowded! I specifically went after the National Day holiday to avoid the peak season, but it was still packed! I got to sample free draft beer and beer nuts. The shops around the exit were nice to browse; I bought what I wanted. Highly recommended for anyone interested in beer culture.

The scenic area boasts pavilions, towers, bridges, and flowing water, creating a beautiful landscape. Weeping willows sway along the lake, and the lake water ripples gently. Attractions such as the Five Pavilion Bridge, Xu Garden, and the Twenty-Four Bridges each have their own unique features. I also enjoyed watching the live performance "More Than Just March in Yangzhou," which is highly recommended and deserves praise.

Yangkou Scenic Area isn't very strenuous, but it's mostly steps. This is especially unfriendly to people with bad knees, as the entire route is almost entirely stairs with no uphill climbing. Many people buy cable car tickets. However, buying the cable car means missing out on the opportunity to enjoy the scenery while walking. It's truly a difficult choice.

We were very fortunate that our top guide today was Ms. Dong Ling. Her professional expertise was solid; she didn't just recite from memory. She eloquently explained the stories and archaeological backgrounds behind each of the museum's treasures, making dry history vivid and easy to understand. My son and I deeply experienced the thousand-year history of Nanjing. Highly recommended!

It's pretty good, quite fun. It's a small island, quite large, with many Buddha statues and other attractions, but climbing the mountain can be a bit tiring. You have to take a boat to get there, so it might not be the most exciting part, but it's still a nice place to relax alone on the weekend.
