John from Superb Scotland Tours did an incredible job guiding us on our day-long tour of the Scottish countryside. We started by visiting the Falkirk Wheel, a true marvel of engineering, and even got to ride on it. Next, we enjoyed a scenic drive that included a stop to see the charming and increasingly popular Scottish Highland Cows, or Coos as some call them. We snapped selfies with Ruby the cow and had a quick bite to eat before carrying on. Our journey then took us to a stunning set of waterfalls, followed by a brief stop in a picturesque countryside town where we had some time to shop for souvenirs to remember our day. All in all, we highly recommend Superb Scotland Tours for anyone planning their next trip. Here are some photos from our tour!

Nestled right on the main drag in charming Callander—the gateway to the jaw-dropping Trossachs—Main Street Bakery is that feel-good, local Scottish bakery you never knew you needed. This spot is pure neighborhood vibes, no frills, just fresh bakes every day. Locals absolutely swear by it, and if you’re on a road trip through the Scottish Highlands, consider this your go-to for snack fuel! 🚗🥐 We sampled their cheese and onion savoury pastry and a banana muffin—both were sooo good! The cheese & onion bake was served up hot, with a super flaky crust and this perfectly balanced, hearty savoury filling. Low key obsessed. For a sweet treat, the banana muffin totally delivered: think moist (but not heavy), full of real banana flavor, and just the right amount of sweetness. Service here is speedy and genuinely friendly—no “tourist tax” either, just good value prices. Main Street Bakery is absolutely the place to stop for a breakfast bite, light lunch, or takeaway snacks before you hit those epic lochs and hiking trails. Main Street Bakery 38 Main St, Callander FK17 8BD, Scotland Open Monday–Saturday: 7:30 AM–3:30 PM, Sunday: 8:00 AM–2:00 PM Honestly, stash a few pastries for your Trossachs adventure—the views and bakes together are 🤩! Book your trip to Callander easily on trip.com for major convenience.

The Highlands taught me one thing quickly: don’t over-plan Scotland. 😂 A few things I’d do differently next time: 🌧️ Don’t wait for perfect weather - the mist and rain actually made some views better. 🚗 Leave extra driving time - you’ll want to stop constantly for viewpoints, lochs, sheep… and obviously Highland cows 🐂 🧥 Bring a proper waterproof - Scottish weather changes FAST. 📍 Don’t only chase famous spots - some of my favourite moments were completely unplanned roadside stops. 🐂 See Highland cows responsibly - use a safe parking spot, keep your distance and don’t enter fields just for a photo. ⏰ Plan fewer stops, enjoy them longer. That’s probably the biggest thing I’d change. The Scottish Highlands aren’t just about where you’re going - the road trip itself is the experience. Save this for your Scotland trip 🏴 #ScottishHighlands #ScotlandRoadTrip #HighlandCow #ScotlandTravel #TravelTips #UKTravel

If you're searching for tranquility surrounded by majestic mountains and deep, rich waters in Scotland, Loch Katrine is the hidden gem of The Trossachs National Park that will completely steal your heart. Beyond its stunning natural beauty, this spot also served as the inspiration for Sir Walter Scott's famous poem, "The Lady of the Lake." On this trip, we'll take you on the ultimate Loch Katrine experience: kicking back on the water and putting your legs to the test on a mountain peak. 🚢 Part 1: A Historic Steamboat Cruise and Romance on the Water Start your morning at Trossachs Pier, where the nostalgic sound of the vintage boat whistle and the historic atmosphere instantly welcome you. The absolute highlight here is hopping aboard the Sir Walter Scott—a century-old steamship—or one of the other charming vessels in their fleet. The Vibe on the Water: As the boat slowly pulls away from the dock, Loch Katrine’s tranquil waters act like a massive mirror, perfectly reflecting the sky and the dense, dark-green pine trees. Along both sides, you're treated to gorgeous views of rocky mountains and forests that change colors with the seasons. Feel the cool breeze on your face as the boat glides past tiny islets, like Ellen's Isle—the very backdrop of the iconic poem. Sipping warm tea on the deck while listening to the captain's stories offers a kind of relaxation you simply can't find in the hustle and bustle of the city. 🥾 Part 2: Stretching Your Legs, Hiking Ben A'an, and Taking in the Bird’s-Eye View After you've had your fill of chilling on the boat, it's time to switch into adventurer mode. Our destination is Ben A'an, a bite-sized mountain located just a stone's throw from the pier, famous for offering one of the most rewarding viewpoints in all of Scotland. Difficulty: Moderate (The trail gets pretty steep in sections, but there are well-maintained stone steps.) Duration: About 2 to 4 hours (round trip, depending on your fitness level and how often you stop for photos.) Along the Trail: The first leg of the hike takes you through a shaded, lush pine forest where the sounds of chirping birds and bubbling streams keep you company. Once you clear the tree line, the trail becomes noticeably steeper and your heart rate will definitely spike. But the moment you turn around, the sweeping views will leave you so breathless in a good way that you'll completely forget the burn. The Summit: The Ultimate Reward When you finally step onto the peak of Ben A'an, you're greeted with a jaw-dropping 360-degree panoramic view of Loch Katrine stretching out endlessly. The deep blue water contrasts beautifully with the rugged, rolling mountains of Ben Venue and the surrounding peaks. From this vantage point, the loch looks like a giant, slumbering dragon nestled in the valley. 🎒 Pro Tips for Visiting Loch Katrine Clothing: Scottish weather is notoriously unpredictable. Dress in layers, pack a reliable windbreaker/rain jacket, and make sure you have sturdy hiking boots with good grip for tackling Ben A'an. Getting There: The easiest way is renting a car and driving from Edinburgh or Glasgow (it takes about 1 to 1.5 hours). There’s parking available at Trossachs Pier and right at the Ben A'an trailhead. Booking Your Cruise: During peak season (May through September), it's highly recommended to book your boat tickets online in advance so you don't miss out.

The famous pie shop in Scotland on the way to the highlands is highly recommended to eat hot, it's very delicious. We went to buy it around 7.00 am, and there were already people queuing. Their pies are really good. After buying, we were on the way and ate it in the car. It was so hot it burned our mouths, but the pie was delicious, highly recommended to try. I don't eat meat, so I ordered the chicken and shiitake mushroom pie. My brother and nephew ordered the meat pie, and they said it was very flavorful. After talking this much, you must go and try it 🥧🥧🥧
It's off-season now, the park is not open at all, it's a waste of time
D08***96Edinburgh Castle is an absolutely breathtaking historical landmark! ❤️ Perched high on Castle Rock, it offers spectacular views of Edinburgh and the surrounding city. The impressive stone walls, ancient architecture, and rich Scottish history make this place truly special. Walking through the castle feels like stepping back in time, with fascinating stories of kings, queens, battles, and royal traditions waiting to be discovered. I especially love the dramatic setting and the way the castle stands proudly above the city. It’s a perfect destination for history lovers, photographers, and anyone who enjoys exploring beautiful historical places. 😊 Definitely a must-visit attraction in Scotland!
Tania Akter (Sumi)This is a great historical location. Of course I am into the ruins and all that entails, but regardless fun! Kissing the stone does require you to hang update down over the castle wall but it iscompletely safe. The grounda are beautiful andpeaceful. We came on a rainy day so crowds may have been smaller due to that. Be sure to plan for a few hours to see as much as possible. Easily 4 or more.
werduya beautiful place. there was boat trips on the loch, but we did,nt do these.you could also hire canoes and various crafts to go on loch yourself.there were a few shops nearby and a cafe. there were also some other attractions but most were closed.what i would point out though is you actually get a better view of the lock if you go to luss village, which is only a few miles up the road. you can also get a boat trip from there.
Sheda11Awesome place! Had an amazing experience—highly recommended for everyone to visit!
M AhemVisiting the Palace of Holyroodhouse was easily one of the highlights of my time in Edinburgh. Located right at the end of the Royal Mile, it offers a fascinating contrast to the medieval drama of Edinburgh Castle, providing a much more intimate glimpse into British and Scottish royal history.
