A Milan landmark, the castle was originally built in 1360 and rebuilt by the Sforza family in 1450. It is a typical Milanese Renaissance-style military castle. The core courtyard and park are completely free, while the museums charge admission but the tickets are very low, and there are multiple free admissions. The most dazzling of these is Michelangelo's last sculpture, the Pietà of Rondanini, a masterpiece from his later years, possessing immense artistic value.
