Highfield House Hotel

When I booked, I saw the route closest to the school, but the airport bus went down and we carried the luggage for more than half an hour. If there is no baggage for about 15-20 minutes, the bus can take several stops. Pure English breakfast, breaded omelette bacon ham and potatoes, as well as some side dishes and small West Point, fruit milk cereal tea bags and so on are simple and clean, in short to meet the demand. Parking is available at the hotel entrance. There is no elevator in the three-storey building. Narrow stairs, on the day of check-in, a waiter at the front desk was very nice, helped us carry the luggage upstairs, because I came to study so I brought a lot of luggage. On the day of check-out, only one waiter was busy at the front desk, so our mother and daughter It’s really a shame for the two to move down from the third floor. It is suitable for children with a quiet night and the rooms are air conditioned.

Upon entering our room we found a slug on the bed. We immediately went to reception and asked to change rooms. The windows were shut so we couldn't be certain that this was the only slug/wildlife, nor how long it had been in there. The receptionist informed us that there were no other rooms available and the best she could do would be to change the sheets. We felt this was not enough given our concerns but reluctantly accepted that this would be our only option vs finding a different hotel late at night. She changed the sheets but this didn't stop us feeling dirty and like we might find other slugs and bugs everywhere we looked. We were very uncomfortable. We really would've preferred a different room. As a result, we barely slept. The website advertises 'Good Night Guarantee', but this is a lie. We reported our issue, requested a resolution and were provided with an attempt at resolution, but not anything that actually helped us feel comfortable. So, as per the T&Cs of the 'Good Night Guarantee', we requested a refund for the stay because we had a terrible nights sleep and couldn't wait to leave. We were told by customer services that they were aware of the slug and in their eyes they did rectify the situation for us. And that we weren't eligible for the refund because we didn't inform receptionist we were having trouble sleeping. In what world is it reasonable for us to struggle to sleep and continuously go down to reception to moan at the receptionist when she's already informed us that there are no other rooms? I couldn't believe they would avoid their own policy in this way. We aren't troublesome people and don't enjoy moaning at those working in customer service roles just for the sake of it. Ultimately, we did not receive value for money, and we should have been eligible for the 'Good Night Guarantee' but have instead found ourselves feeling taken for fools.
Ennios Boutique Hotel

This review is for an overnight stay of 4 travelers (DH, DS, DBIL, and myself). We arrived early in the morning after disembarking on a 10 day cruise. We were greeted by Joe, who was most helpful and welcoming. We spent the day on a walking excursion and returned back to the hotel around 3 pm. Our chilled rooms were a welcome upon returning with temperatures reaching into the low 90s. We again were we greeted by Joe in the morning to take our breakfast order, call for a taxi, and brought our luggage down to the lobby for us. WOW, that’s great service! The hotel is small (only 10 rooms), with no elevator, and air conditioning only in the rooms. There is a lovely bar and delicious restaurant in this quaint boutique. With charming accommodations, wonderful service - thank you, Joe, convenient location we would recommend Ennios Boutique for unique stay.

Stayed here for just one night with friends to watch cricket at the Ageas Bowl. Had lunch before we went which was nice except one of the ciabattas was very hard. The lady serving us (Marie) was very apologetic. She has a great sense of humour and made us feel very welcomed. On returning late she made sure we were served at last orders. Our room was very nice with a comfortable bed, good shower. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and well prepared. Would stay here again. Staff were great, especially Marie!
Southampton North

We stayed at this hotel on the edge of Southampton. Had trouble finding it on both my Sat Navs ( Garmin & TomTom ), did find it using Google Maps - easy to find. We only booked the 1 night here and also paid for the meal deal - evening meal and breakfast at the restaurant next door. We where lucky as we where on the ground floor - there's no lift in this hotel, it was a hot day & night, but not too hot to sleep - there was a bit fan in the room, but no air-con. As I booked this hotel nearly 1 year in advance, it was free car parking when we booked it. This changed just a few weeks before we arrived, but we did not have to pay the fee. Not sure why they would want to charge to park here, this is on the edge of Southampton in a residential area, only 1 other pub near by and a couple of shops. We did go for a walk and stretched our legs on the Saturday morning before we departed for the short drive down to the docks which took about 30 minutes to do, again I used Google Maps to navigate my way there. In all another comfy nights sleep, no noise from anywhere. Good room as I would expect from a Premier Inn. Yes it is close to the motorway and the airport, and not far to the docks. We would use this hotel again if we where to go on another cruise from Southampton.
Holiday Inn Southampton

Stayed here for one night pre cruise, as most in the hotel seemed to be. It’s an ugly 1970s style concrete blob from the outside. It’s right on the riverfront close to all the cruise terminals and a few minutes walk from West Quay shopping and the town centre. Check in was quick and the guy was very friendly. Parking is expensive at £15 but if you use the yourparkingspace app it’s about a third of that price. The reception/bar area is light and modern and if you are a IHG member you get a free drink each which is a nice touch. We booked a super king sea view room. I notice that the description of these has now changed to River view which is more accurate. The room was modern, spacious and had everything we needed. The bathroom was again clean and modern. The bed was lovely and comfortable. The room has floor to ceiling windows offering nice views over the estuary and cruise terminals. They also have city view rooms but looking at the position of the hotel I reckon most rooms will have some view out to the river, albeit side on. We didn’t eat at the hotel simply because there are a wealth of restaurants within a few minutes walk at West Quay or in town. Prices vary a lot for this hotel and this seems to be linked to how many cruise ships are in port the day after as this is a favourite with cruise passengers because of its proximity to the terminals. However, early booking does get the price down to a reasonable sum for a modern, reliable, friendly and well located hotel. Still not sure why it’s leisure centre hasn’t reopened after Covid though.
