Super OYO 768 Fajar Baru Boutique Hotel

The hotel is absolutely clean. Initially booked a single room, which is perfect for the solo traveller. Then upgraded to a larger room as I had a bit more things to sort through. The location is perfect if you’re looking to stay a while just before your flight. Very central and easy to find a lot of places to eat, sundry shops, pharmacies.

I had a nice one night stay here. The staff were very helpful and assisted me in explaining how to get to the island from Marina Duyong and I was also able to buy my return ticket from reception which was helpful. In addition, they allowed me to pay for all meals through online transfer, which I was grateful for as I hadn’t brought cash. Travel to and from the resort to the jetty was available for an extra RM20. The food was good - I had the scrambled eggs, pancakes, Chinese fried rice and nasi goreng ayam. The room had everything I needed and was clean. There was a public beach around 10-15 minute walk from the resort and it was very quiet but stunning. I was a little bit unlucky with the weather as it rained more or less the entire time I was there apart from on the morning I left where I managed to grab some photos.

Looking through the reviews here, there are no recent ones. Things have deteriorated much since I first stayed here in 2019. Back then, service was friendly, room was nice and clean, aircon was functioning like it should. Perhaps blame it on covid restrictions past 2 years. Blame it on low cash flow to do maintenance. Blame it on lack of motivated staff. Truth is, this hotel’s standard has gone down. Broken, poor maintained room, unmotivated & deary staff working, moldy & poorly cleaned bathroom.. I can go on but you can probably get the picture. Pity, it was great back in 2019 but I won’t be returning.

Redang Paradise Resort

We extended our stay on the island for one day, but all the hotels were complete, this was the only one with wide availability, then we realized the reason for it, our night was a hell. The resort is old, but is not treated in the most absolute way. It consists of some wooden boxes with axles so badly put, that from the floor you see the underground ... invasion by waste and then by animals. Among the boxes there is one with the gleamed roof ... is that where the staff sleeps (see photos). The bathroom is the worst thing: dirty, full of muffle, small (the shower is above the toilet), with the dirty and red-wheel toilet box, which makes it stupid just to see it, imagine touching it. Of course it smells to be bad and there are problems with the swamp, which is badly discharged and continues to emit sinistre noises (I swear, all night). The wooden boxes have a kind of soft ... we didn't get up from fear, as the first floor was already INVASO by GIANT RAGNI. For all response, the staff laughs in the face of the client, saying that there are insects on an island is normal. And they give a spray, which has no other function, but to stain the rabbits and make them move inside the room (we couldn't kill them, they were too big). The receptionist (a girl who speaks a sneaked English but always laughs in the face) told us and other customers that it would rain from there a little bit, so the animals would be out. It was never seen rain, but the animals, they are. I remember that we stayed 5 nights at Sari Pacifica just a little further, where we didn't even see a insect. Linen and towels only on request, dirty. The sea sticks not even talk about it. All this for €82 per room, not even little. Sure, because they know that who books there has an alternative to sleep on the beach. Thought us well before booking here. Redang is a Paradise, but it risks becoming a hell. You're changing period, or island, and this place, as it is, should be closed.
