QQinghexuxianzhiGot a room upgrade, which was a nice surprise! The hotel is very close to The Bund, and Yu Garden station is within walking distance, making transportation very convenient. The room was quite soundproof, and unlike other hotels on this trip, there was no sewage odor. Breakfast was also good with plenty of options. Overall, I recommend staying here.

GGuest UserHonestly, I never expected such an amazing experience at this hotel! I just picked it randomly, and I was completely blown away.
Right from booking, the service was incredibly thoughtful. They proactively reached out to confirm all the details before check-in, so I didn't have to worry about a thing – it was so relaxing. Penny and Constance were wonderfully helpful, and the concierge was always on hand, efficient and reliable. The room itself was huge, spotlessly clean, and beautifully maintained. The view from the window instantly put me in a better mood. Although it's located in a busy area, it was surprisingly quiet and peaceful – I felt completely at ease.
The hotel restaurant's food was also perfectly to my taste, delicious and comforting. There wasn't a single thing to complain about during my entire stay; I felt relaxed and free the whole time. Next time I'm in the area, I'm definitely choosing this place again!

GGuest UserStayed at Banyan Tree Shanghai recently and had a mixed experience overall.
The highlight of the stay was definitely the view — absolutely stunning and one of the best parts of the hotel. The room also felt modern with thoughtful touches like the automated Toto toilet system, which added a nice luxury feel.
However, there were a few areas that fell short of expectations for a 5-star property. The shower water pressure was quite weak, which made it less enjoyable. More noticeably, the air conditioning didn’t perform well — even when set to 20°C, the room temperature stayed around 22°C but felt closer to 25–26°C. It became uncomfortable enough that I had to request a fan.
Service could also be improved. I had 5–6 parcels delivered to the hotel, and while they were collected, the staff did not offer any assistance to bring them up to the room, which felt lacking in customer attentiveness. Additionally, during check-out, there was no effort made to ask about my stay or gather feedback, which was surprising for a hotel of this standard.
In terms of facilities, the breakfast spread was above average and definitely in line with what you’d expect from a 5-star hotel — a good variety and quality overall. However, the room itself showed some wear and tear, with visible cracks in the sink, suggesting that parts of the hotel may be due for renovation.
Overall, Banyan Tree Shanghai has strong potential with its views and amenities, but improvements in maintenance, service, and guest engagement would make a big difference to the overall experience.

GGuest UserThe room is beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. The design is simple yet elegant, with a cozy atmosphere that makes it easy to relax. The bed is soft and well-prepared, and the natural light from the window makes the room feel bright and pleasant.
The view is nice, and the location is excellent—very close to the subway and near Nanjing Road, which makes it extremely convenient for shopping, dining, and getting around the city.

QQianlifujiHad a fantastic stay at this hotel. The location is excellent, with easy access to transportation. While the room facilities aren't the newest, the bedding was comfortable, making for a very relaxing stay. The front desk staff were quite friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. Overall, the hotel's environment and cleanliness are far superior to express hotels in the same price range. Highly recommend.

GGuest UserCame here for a New Year's gathering with friends. The room was incredibly spacious, the bed was huge and very clean, almost like a mini-suite. The swimming and fitness facilities were all well-equipped, and any issues that arose were resolved promptly. The service was also excellent; they brought glasses and ice cubes right away when requested. I also thought the outdoor pool looked lovely; it would be great to stay here for a few days in the summer.

GGuest UserFor my tenth anniversary with my wife, we chose the Regent. The hotel had prepared some simple decorations in advance, and our room's location and view were excellent. Some say the Regent's rooms are dim, but I genuinely love the dark red and green color scheme. A small exhibition was set up using the curved white walls, which my wife really appreciated. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, with great natural light during the day, decaf coffee capsules, and very cozy bedding. The best part, however, was the pool. Although not large, the view was incredible, and the bubble massage in the hot spring pool was very relaxing. After a swim, the Finnish sauna was just perfect. The staff were warm and attentive, promptly responding to our requests, and their attention to detail was impressive. The overall atmosphere was wonderful. They even followed up with a call later to ask about our stay. If the food could be a bit tastier, it would be absolutely perfect. I would definitely choose to stay here again for our next trip.

GGuest UserThe room is spacious, with a dressing room, and in addition to a large bed, there's also a bunk bed, which my child absolutely loved! It even has Lego toys and a desk perfect for homework. All in all, whether you're traveling for business or leisure, this is definitely a top-notch place to stay.

GGuest UserI had a fantastic stay at this hotel and I have to give special recognition to Ding Yu (丁宇) because she truly made the experience exceptional. From the moment I arrived she was warm, professional, and incredibly attentive. She handled check-in smoothly, answered all my questions with patience and went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect throughout my stay. It’s rare to come across someone so genuinely dedicated to guest satisfaction. She’s an absolute star.
The rest of the team also deserves a shoutout. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, efficient and welcoming which really added to the overall comfort of the stay.
The hotel itself is in a fantastic location. It is a very short walk to the Bund making it easy to enjoy the skyline and riverside views. Getting around was effortless with quick Didi rides to all the major attractions. The rooms were impressively spacious, clean, and well-designed offering a comfortable place to unwind after a day out.
Overall, this hotel ticks all the boxes with excellent service, prime location, and great room quality. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area!

GGuest UserThe best location ever! 🤩🤩🤩 in a historical building 😍😍😍 that is amazing!!!!! and now I would like to share some information why it’s not perfect: Not enough usb chargers for two phones and a power bank….an air conditioning (heater) was pretty loud🥺 and the hotel stuff wanted to enter my room in the morning (well, they were insisting to enter) when I wanted to sleep so much after several nights with no sleep at all… and I still don’t understand why, because they talk in Chinese……. Anyways, it’s a good hotel to stay and explore beautiful Shanghai 👌
