Vietnam Arrival Card [2025] | Trip.com

The Vietnam Arrival Card, officially now the Digital Pre-Arrival Declaration, is a free entry‑exit document required for all foreign nationals.

As of April 15, 2026, this digital system has replaced the old paper NA1 slips at major air hubs to streamline immigration. It generates a Personal QR Code that officers scan to retrieve your travel data instantly.

All foreign travelers arriving in Vietnam via international airports must complete the digital declaration.

  • International Travelers (US, UK, EU, AU, etc.): Mandatory for all air entry, even if you are eligible for Vietnam’s 45-day visa-exemption scheme.
  • Indian Citizens: Mandatory for all air arrivals, including visits to Phu Quoc Island (even under the 30-day visa-free policy).
  • General Exemptions: Vietnamese citizens, dual citizens using a Vietnamese passport, and airside transit passengers who do not pass through immigration control.
  • Mandatory Locations: Currently strictly enforced at Tan Son Nhat (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City. It is highly recommended for Hanoi (HAN) and Da Nang (DAD) to avoid manual paperwork.

Entry Tips to Vietnam

After landing, follow this streamlined process to clear immigration, collect baggage, and pass through customs quickly, with practical tips to avoid hold‑ups.

  • Immigration Check: Present your passport, e-Visa (if applicable), and Digital QR Code. The officer will scan the QR code to process your entry.
  • Baggage & Customs: Collect luggage and use the Green Channel if you have nothing to declare.
  • Travel Tip: Keep an offline copy of your QR code. Airport Wi-Fi can be unreliable, and you cannot clear the line at SGN without the code being scanned.

Travel Tips to Vietnam

  • Keep both digital and printed copies of all documents to avoid phone/device issues
  • Avoid peak arrival hours (19:00–23:00) to reduce immigration queue times
  • Be prepared to show accommodation proof if asked by immigration staff
  • Drones, illegal substances, and excess tobacco/alcohol are strictly prohibited

Vietnam Arrival Card Rules for Indian Citizens (2026 Rules)

Indian nationals have specific requirements to ensure a smooth holiday:

  • Mainland Entry: Indian passport holders must have a pre-approved e-Visa for mainland Vietnam. The e-Visa is now valid for 90 days (Single entry approx. ₹2,100 / Multiple entry approx. ₹4,200).
  • Phu Quoc Exemption: Indians can visit Phu Quoc Island visa-free for 30 days, provided they arrive via an international flight or transit through a Vietnamese airport without leaving the transit area. However, the Digital Arrival QR Code is still mandatory.
  • Documents: Ensure your passport is valid for 6 months beyond your arrival date.
  • Sticker Visas: While e-Visas are the standard, Indian citizens can still apply for sticker visas at the Vietnamese Embassy in New Delhi or Consulate in Mumbai for business or long-term stays.

Beautiful hotel, very big reception area & room & only 5 - 10 mins from the airport 🛫 which is ideal. We only spent 1nt before flying home. Our room was ok but the bedding felt cold & damp & there was an awful musty smell throughout the hotel. That's our only criticism 😔

Staying at Caravelle Saigon was an absolute treat. The location is unbeatable — right in the heart of District 1, walking distance to the Saigon Opera House, Nguyen Hue walking street, and plenty of great cafes, restaurants, and shops. The rooms are elegant and well-appointed, blending modern comfort with a touch of classic charm. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the views of the city skyline from the higher floors were stunning, especially at night. What really stood out was the service — professional, warm, and consistently attentive without being overbearing. Everyone from the concierge to housekeeping made us feel genuinely welcome. The rooftop bar, Saigon Saigon, is a must-visit — perfect for cocktails with a panoramic view of the city. Their buffet breakfast was also a highlight, offering a wide range of Western and Asian dishes, fresh juices, and even made-to-order pho. If you’re looking for a luxury stay in Saigon with history, style, and top-notch service, Caravelle is an excellent choice. Would absolutely stay here again.

I had a good stay at the Majestic. The building has historical character and there is value in that, but for a five star hotel it is starting to feel a bit too dated. I cannot possibly rate this hotel in any bad way, my stay was very comfortable and the staff was kind and attentive. I was offered a late checkout when I mentioned my flight was at 4pm, which I appreciated, and the breakfast is very complete with a nice view over the river. However, there were also shortcomings. The pool is small, although beautiful. There is no free access to the spa for hotel guests, even sauna and Turkish bath. There was a happy hour sign at the door with a 30%-50% discount for spa treatments but I was told this did not apply to hotel guests. The room is spacious but my suite did not have a view to the river, or any view at all for that matter - it quite literally faced a wall, which also prevented the room for brightening up to its full potential. The furnishings in the room could do with some updates. I believe restoration works are underway, which in my case was a negative because of the noise from 10AM; housekeeping did leave a sign apologising after, but would have been nice to know of the works beforehand. Overall this is a beautiful and comfortable property in a historical location in Saigon, but for the price there are other newer options in a city where you might find a more luxurious experience. It depends what you’re looking for!

Alagon Hotel & Spa is a gem in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. Whether you’re here for the rooftop bar’s stunning views, Restaurant Bonjour’s delicious food, or the hotel’s impeccable service, you won’t be disappointed. It’s perfect for both leisure and business travelers, and the location in District 1 makes it easy to explore the city’s top attractions. **Rating**: 4.8/5 **Highlights**: Rooftop bar, breakfast buffet, spa services, and friendly staff. **Room for Improvement**: The Wi-Fi speed could be a bit faster, but it wasn’t a major issue. If you’re planning a trip to Ho Chi Minh City, I highly recommend staying at Alagon Hotel & Spa. It’s a fantastic value for the quality and experience you get. Happy travels!

The breakfast was great with a nice view and great variety of food and taste great too. But it is abit troublesome to get to your room, as u need to take a lift to the lobby at 47 floor, then change to another lift to your room. Other than that everything is great. This is a hotel of contradictions. The facade is impressive. It's centrally located in District 1 near restaurants, shops and the Western quarter. The buffet breakfast selection is pleasing. The room size is generous. Staff are friendly and helpful. There's a forward thinking eco-friendly policy which clearly implemented throughout the hotel. However, the hotel is let down by some of its facilities. For example, in the bathroom a spa has been placed under a shower head so that when you shower the water runs down the wall and floods across the bathroom floor from one side to the other and in front of the hand basin. The hot and cold water taps turn on in opposite directions and the cold tap is not fitted properly which causes it to move. My children were unable to turn the shower on or off without adult help. The shower head is also too low and my 6 foot husband had to crouch down to shower. Another problem area is the rooftop pool area. The clear rooptop pool perimeter fence is woefully too low. I watched a child climb out of the pool to the ledge between the pool and the perimeter fence and I was very worried for his safety. One wrong slip or stumble and there's nothing stopping the child from toppling over the edge and 11 floors down. This hotel has a lot going for it but also has further room for improvement.

This place is hard to find even to some locals, and its especially hard for foreigners to come by for the first time. It's a newly building with security at the lobby, and there are shops and restaurants near by which is convenient. However; there is hardly a management of this property, we booked for 4days 3 nights and there were only 4 bottles in total and we had no respond when we required for more water bottles.(good thing is shops are close by.) Secondly, we also had no respond when we requied of house cleaning, we found and killed Cockroaches everyday. Last but not least, the third night of stay hot water running out, I had to take a cold shower. I don't mind taking cold showers in Vietnam's current weather, its just i didnt have an option of hot water makes this stay less worthy. There are also some pros of this property, the views are good, you get to see the landmark 81 building right outside the window, and some parts of river view. Besides the views, they use good quality bedding appliances (mattresses are great) and electrical appliances(dryer in your closet, you get to hang your wet clothes, sanitize and dry them). Overall, I would come back and live here if the management can starting to catch up.

I’ve been in Saigon for months now moving from hotel to hotel. The Myst Dong Khoi is an excellent choice among the options. The best feature, and one that matters a lot here, is quiet and peace. The Myst’s rooms are very quiet. I worked inside my room for hours and didn’t hear much. The hotel is cute and well run. Lovely staff. Efficient processes. Well priced and very well situated in a safe and western-friendly location.  I will absolutely stay here again.  And I did. For another week!! Areas of improvement include breakfast tables being placed just inches apart - hugely inappropriate and made me find other options for breakfast. I’d also do a better job separating families with rowdy kids and everyone else.

My third time at this hotel. Very convenient because of the location, the reception staff are very pleasant and happy to help you. The breakfast is very boring. Cheap ingredients. And the room is too small for the number of guests even though they added a room. Going down the stairs is not the most convenient. And the service lacks character, the cook does a great job and always fills in what is missing. You can see that he is professional and experienced. And he is also very friendly. But we took sandwiches for the long train ride and I must say that this was the biggest disappointment. Because I did not take a sandwich down to the kitchen for myself, because to get a sandwich from the dining room I am supposed to pay extra. Although only a few dollars, the principle is completely stupid. The sandwich I received was terrible, dry, boring, made from two slices of cheap bread, a kind of cheese leaf and a hard-boiled egg. Something really inedible. Bread that chokes you. I prefer nothing to this free nothing.

The room was a decent size, had everything I needed, and was very clean. However, the curtains were poorly designed, letting in light on both sides (see photo). I arrived late at night, and by the time I was settled, it was already 1 AM. As a result, I was woken up by the light at 6 AM. The breakfast was plentiful, with both Asian and Western options. There's also a restaurant on the third floor where you can have lunch and dinner, and the prices are reasonable. Many local Vietnamese families dine there. The hotel is close to all the tourist attractions, making it a good choice overall. My only complaint is that the front desk captain was unfriendly and unsmiling.

The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas Eve! The room wasn't huge, but it was well-equipped, clean, and the service was excellent – great value for money. The entire hotel has a French-inspired architectural style, with a warm and romantic white main theme. Because of this, I've even booked MGallery hotels for my upcoming trip to Australia. And there are many brilliant restaurants nearby.(Except Lebanhmi) 2.Service: The hotel guy will help you to pick up the luggages. And their service is very good that should make you very comfortable. 3.Room: I really don’t care about the size of the room. But the soundproofing is REALLY REALLY TERRIBLE. I stayed in hotel for three days. Every night, may be around 1:00-3:00AM. I can hear very clearly about the big bang sound outside for someone opening the door or their talking voice. That really made me very nervous. I suggest the hotel can consider about changing the soundproof materials of the door. If they can improve this concept, I may rebook for next trip in Saigon.

We stayed for six nights. Pros: - Excellent location in a tourist area, close to all amenities and shops. - Polite service with excellent English. - Daily towel changes, room cleaning, water, and toiletries. - Great cafe right outside on the ground floor. - Good breakfast from 7 to 10 AM, but the later you go, the less selection there is. - Air conditioning works perfectly. - Real plants with drip irrigation – very nice. - At first glance, a cozy room with a balcony. Cons: - Due to the plants on the balcony, tiny bugs constantly crawl around the room, bed, and bathroom. They are harmless, like specks of sand, but caused a slight discomfort. - The bathroom wasn't the cleanest due to humidity and old renovations. It was always cleaned, but it looked old and musty. - Not all drinks were refilled daily, contrary to what some reviews mentioned. Initially, there was beer, Pepsi, tea, and water. - Poor soundproofing; noises from the corridor and the neighboring room were audible. - And most importantly – street noise. A closed balcony didn't help; there was noise on the street until midnight and starting at 9 AM. Sports broadcasts, hawkers, construction from neighboring buildings – everything was audible, as if you were right on the street. Since our balcony faced the street, we experienced this; perhaps there are other room options with windows facing inwards. Overall, the hotel isn't bad for its price and genuinely tries to be good, but the longer we stayed, the more downsides we noticed. We wish them continued improvement!

FAQs about Vietnam Arrival Card

  • Is there an Arrival Card to enter Vietnam?

Yes. As of April 15, 2026, Vietnam has transitioned to a Digital Pre-Arrival Declaration. It is currently mandatory for all foreign travelers arriving at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City and is being phased in at other major airports like Hanoi and Da Nang.
  • Do I need to fill an Arrival Card for India?

No. The card is for entering Vietnam. However, all Indian citizens (and other foreign nationals) flying into Vietnam must complete this digital form before they can clear Vietnamese immigration.
  • Can Indians get a Vietnam visa on arrival?

Yes, but the e-Visa is now the preferred and most efficient method. If you choose Visa on Arrival (VoA), you must still obtain an "Approval Letter" from an agency before flying. Upon arrival, you will use the Digital Arrival QR Code to speed up your path to the VoA counter, where you will pay the stamping fee ($25 for single entry).
  • What documents do I need to travel to Vietnam from India?

To ensure a smooth entry in 2026, you need:
Valid Passport: At least 6 months validity from your date of arrival.
Vietnam e-Visa: (Or a Visa Approval Letter).
Digital Arrival QR Code: Obtained from prearrival.immigration.gov.vn.
Proof of Accommodation: A specific hotel address and phone number.
Return/Onward Ticket: Often requested by airline check-in staff or immigration.
  • Do Indians need visas for Vietnam? What is the cost?

Yes, Indian citizens require a visa for mainland Vietnam.
    Single-entry e-Visa (90 days): $25 (approx. ₹2,100)
    Multiple-entry e-Visa (90 days): $50 (approx. ₹4,200)
Phu Quoc Island: No visa is required if you stay only on Phu Quoc for up to 30 days and arrive via an international flight.
Note: You still must complete the Digital Arrival Card.
  • Do children need a separate Arrival Card?

Yes. Every traveler, including infants and minors, must have their own individual Digital Arrival QR Code linked to their specific passport number. Parents can fill out the form on behalf of their children during the online process.
  • How long is the Vietnam Arrival Card valid?

The timing is now very specific. You can only submit the digital form within 72 hours (3 days) of your scheduled arrival. The system will not accept applications submitted earlier than this window. Once submitted, the QR code is valid for your specific arrival date and flight.
