We were here specially for a cup of coffee with a beautiful view, it was successful, we got a good cover because it was a little fresh. Nice to combine with a walk to the Maria image with a fantastic view of Trier.
Holiday Inn Express Trier

The Holiday Inn Express in Trier is a newer hotel in a city without a lot of hotels. It's an easy walk (about 15 minutes) from the historic city center with most of the tourist attractions. If I had to guess I would say the hotel has been open for about a year. There is still a fresh paint smell. Some of the walls by the front desk are also missing paint as if construction or decorating isn't done yet. There's a lot to like about the hotel, including a full bar, fast and free wifi, a good TV, and huge walk-in showers. However, there are some big issues. The hotel advertises free parking. While parking is free, there are NOT enough spaces for all guests. I was told to park in a muddy, dirty field between the parking lot and main road. I had to make an illegal turn from the road, drive over the sidewalk and risk damage to my car and tires. Why was this hotel allowed to build a parking lot that did not have one space for every room? The breakfast is typical by German continental breakfast standards. However, Holiday Inn Express advertises a hot breakfast. There were no hot eggs or anything that adhered to the hot breakfast standard. There is no gym. I have never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express anywhere without a gym, even a small gym. Why does a newly built not have a gym? Guest rooms are very, very small with nothing but a closet, small table and shelve. I had a king-sized room. It would be very crowded if there were two people in the room. My room did not feature the usual Holiday Inn Express amenities. No lotion, no bar of soap, no shampoo, no conditioner and no body wash. Instead, there was one dispenser of Dove soap and one dispenser of Dove shampoo-conditioner. That's it. That is not consistent with my experience at Holiday Inn Express hotels everywhere else. Also, there was no clock, no refrigerator and no coffeemaker, despite coffeemakers being advertised. I did get a kettle with tea and instant coffee. My IHG Spire status recognition at check-in consisted of getting a voucher for a free drink. When I redeemed the voucher at the full bar I was told it didn't cover the cost of a glass of wine. What's the point of the voucher? The bar has several regional wines, but the bartender did not speak English beyond basic words. It was difficult to confirm what wines were dry. Staff were few and far between. On a Saturday night when the hotel seemed 100% sold-out, there was only one front desk employee and one bartender. When issue arose the front desk employee had to leave and go to guest rooms, forcing the bartender who didn't speak fluent English to work both the bar and the front desk. This resulted in wait times of 10 minutes for a drink. After a week of staying in local German hotels I was really looking forward to the consistent chain experience of a Holiday Inn Express. Next time I'm in Trier, I will book the Mercure instead.
Romantik Hotel Zur Glocke

Mitte-Gartenfeld
My wife and I stayed one night while passing through Trier. Everything is walking distance from the hotel and the city has a fabulous history that's worth discovering. We were very pleased with our room, which although compact had everything you need and the airco was good. The luxurious rain-shower in the bathroom was a real treat. Breakfast was also up to German standards (good strong coffee!). Only drawback was that our particular room couldn't be reached by lift (other rooms can). On the other hand, the lady at reception carried one of our bags up herself, which was nice of her. In addition, when we discovered upon our return home that we had left a perfume bottle in our room, the hotel was kind enough to send the expensive item to us by post. What a service!

This hotel is a town centre hotel, it’s location is very central right beside the pont nigra in the city centre. The hotel is an excellent base for exploring the beautiful city of Trier.the rooms are not large but very functional and an excellent shower started each day off perfectly. We didn’t dine in the hotel, we preferred the local cafes and restaurants in the sunshine. If you are looking for a good quality town centre hotel then this is perfect. Also only a few minutes walk from the railway station.
Hotel Porta Nigra

Hotel Porta Nigra has a great location very close to the famous Roman gate and the old city. Unfortunately, if you book on Expedia you are told that the hotel has parking, but not that you have to book it separately. So we arrived and were told there was no hotel parking available and that we would have to pay Euro 15 per night to use the public parking at the Mercure nearby. I don't blame the hotel, but this should have been clear on the Expedia site. Be prepared and contact the hotel in advance if you want to use their parking facilities. We had a spacious family apartment on the ground floor - large and spacious with a kitchenette and dining table, fridge. Great. Unfortunately the hotel Wifi only extends one metre inside the room, so you can only access it from the bathroom or from the coat cupboard. This is rather annoying as you can imagine Breakfast was fine but the coffee maker used powdered milk rather than fresh so you are better off avoidingh the cappuccino and latte options from the machine. Housekeeping service was minimal. Front desk staff are friendly.
B&B HOTEL Trier

Kürenz
The location behind the main station, but without direct access, requires 30 minutes walk to both the station and the city centre. The rooms are rather small, but convenient and functional. The staff was great, friendly and very helpful. The hotel is very good for a short stay and the parking was free.
