Absolutely beautiful. What a wonderful stay we had here and the lovely ladies that assisted us at check in and breakfast are so lovely. Beautiful views of the town and mountains and short walk from the ocean, port and bus stops as restaurants. This place will always be special to me. Thank you!

I'm surprised by the negative reviews I'm seeing for this place as we enjoyed ourselves. That being said, I can understand how this place is sort of a young-mans game and you have to be flexible. Our flights got all messed up and we were going to be coming into Amalfi much later than we expected - 8:30 PM instead of the scheduled 2:00 PM. I called the moment we learned that our plans had changed and the guy I spoke with couldn't give me any promises and I just needed to confirm that we would have a place to sleep that night, considering we already paid. I think what is frustrating about this is that when this property is advertised as a hotel, you expected to have the flexibility and accessibility of a hotel. However, this is more of a room rental in a BNB. We were able to work it out with the gentleman at the front desk and check ourselves in with the lock box. But, we had to communicate with him via WhatsApp (something most Americans don't have, and I had to redownload). Anyway, yes, you will have to pay for parking in cash at the garage up the street. And you've got a huff up the 157 stairs to your room. We stayed in one of the attic rooms so the roof is slanted and definitely limits your ability to walk around. But, the room was pristine, updated, and comfortable! You can enjoy a classic European breakfast on the patio which is included with your stay. Like I said, I young-mans game but in Amalfi it was a cool spot.

The staff was very cheerful and helpful and it was a pleasant stay. The room was clean and the view from the roof was great. I want to use it again.

Our host geraldo greeted us on our arrival as we were slightly unsure where exactly the entrance to the villa was located. He was an excellent Host through out our 5 night stay and he carried out luggage on our way down to the villa ( there are quite a few steps from the main road) whilst explaining to us about the various facilities the villa has to offer. The surrounding area is very quiet and secluded while offering stunning views of the coastline and the sea. We arrived at our room and we instantly fell in love with our balcony view on the terrace, the room itself was spotless and had a modern sleek design. Breakfast was on offer between 8 and 10am and you have a choice between cereal, eggs, pastures, yoghurts and fruit and an Italian style breakfast (I had this most of the time, it consists of parma ham, salami, brown bread, tomatoes , ricotta and mozzarella, highly recommend) of course you also have a choice of drinks from juice to coffee. Geraldo made our stay very pleasant and was very warm and friendly throughout , giving us travel tips and assistance for getting around Amalfi and even offering his own supply of bus tickets when we were in need of some help. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting out on our balcony and the main terrace area which we used on the evenings as we were out exploring most of the day. We also bought some takeaway pizza and a bottle of wine from Amalfi and brought this back to our room to enjoy on our balcony and you are more than welcome to help yourself to any cutlery / plates from the breakfast area to use in your room as the door is left unlocked for access when you need it. I highly recommend Villa Orleans should you wish to stay in Amalfi. It is only a 20 minute walk or a 10 minute bus ride to the centre of Amalfi. The views are second to none and you will most definitely enjoy your stay there. Thank you geraldo for making our stay one to remember 🙌👍😁

Very small (6 room) hotel in very crowded Amalfi. This is on a side square (Municipio) so close to everything but not crowded. There are restaurants in the square as well as a Saturday Market and fairly constant pickup ”football” games going on there. When we closed the windows overlooking the square, though, it was quiet. The rooms are in old apartment buildings but have been heavily renovated so they are very modern. The staff were all friendly and very accommodating. We chose the Junior Suite with Balcony and had plenty of room and a great view out to the sea from our Balcony. They don't serve Breakfast but who cares. We bought some pastry at the local cafe and made coffee using the machine just outside our door and had breakfast on our balcony. The website does mention that this is upstairs but is really not descriptive enough. The two rooms (ours and the ”Partial Sea View”) were in a separate building on the third floor (i.e., what Americans would call the fourth floor). This means three flights of steep old stairs (we counted 52 in all) to get to these rooms. The hotel did have someone who carried our luggage up and down the stairs. It was well worth it for us but might be a problem for many.

A super enjoyable stay at Casa Mao in Amalfi. This is a quaint and charming boutique hotel with arguably one of the best hotel views in Amalfi from the rooftop deck that also serves as the breakfast area: no better way to start the day! The property has been recently completely rennovated, having been in the family for generations. The owner, Giancarlo, could not have been more helpful with recommendations for beach clubs, walks, restaurants, transport and so on. He really went out of his way to ensure we had a very enjoyable stay. Yes, there are a few steps to navigate to reach the hotel but that is one of the best characteristics of the entire Amalfi coast. Plus the view and peace and quiet makes the climb worthwhile. We would be delighted to return to Casa Mao.
