Sapphire Addis

Addis Ababa|0.69km from city centre
I stayed here for almost a month. First week experience was unfortunate as I had to do quarantine for 7 days and the room was uncomfortable. It wasn’t as clean as it could have been at all. The window had no light which made it very hard to work online, especially when you have meetings and daily video meetings. The room was very very cold and no heaters. Some of the lamps didn’t work either, the lightning could be improved. This affected my work The construction opposite the window was quite creepy as it stole all the natural light away and it looks quite scary. During the first week, I was told different information by different staff which was confusing. Unfortunately my COVID results were late, which had me ending up extending my stay for future two days. However the staff did apologise and the manager personally contacted me few times. After the quarantine, I was moved into a much better and cleaner room, which allowed me to work online with good natural light and amenities in the room. Overall the staff was friendly, I could see the chefs cooking with hygiene measures and everyone practiced food hygiene , washing hands etc. Suggestions : I had someone call me at midnight during my first 7 days to say the laundry was ready. It freaked me out as the timing is unacceptable to call a guest at that time. Perhaps better training should be in place. Once I wanted to have a drink in the restaurant/bar and the waiter told me I should drink in my room. Later I saw other people drink in the bar. They should communicate with each other or with the manager to see what’s allowed or not. Staff should communicate more with each other for better understanding so they can inform customers the same thing and not different. The staff should understand that sometimes If the customer feels distressed, you need to acknowledge that and not excuse it. Perhaps because of COVID the rest of the hotel amenities were closed as I was told the bar on 9th floor is closed, there is no spa, the jewellery and gift shop was shut, the gym was not accessible. The location is in perfect location in Bole, close to restaurants and cafes. There is Infiniti cafe right next to the hotel which is great. Overall, I do think the staff were friendly and helpful and tried to help when they could. Some of the staff were extra kind and really reassuring such as one the staff in front desk who helped me change to the new room and directed me to Edna mall and helped with transport etc. Some of the wait staff were really friendly and always asked how I was and how my day was which was sweet and kind. The hotel is safe and secure with security measures. The manager also checked in few times and personally dropped me off to the airport which was reassuring and kind of him. I am hoping to come back soon and I will stay here again when I return to Addis .

UNECA Conference Center

Jupiter International Hotel - Cazanchis

Kirkos Addis Ababa|0.28km from UNECA Conference Center
The hotel is located in the central, safe area. Security guards are always outside, and your bag always needs to pass their security check, which is assuring. Unfortunately, I saw roaches in the room I was initially allocated. I first saw it (they were relatively small; perhaps a local version of it) on my second day, and I had to borrow an insect killer. I further saw two more (which I killed) on my fourth day. When I complained this to the receptionist, she was frowned to hear about my insect problems, but did not look surprised. The cleaning manager told me that he will vacuum and then perfume the whole room. I am sure he did it, but unfortunately, another one (this was looked more like a bed bug) appeared, so I asked for a room change. The reception agreed, and I got another room. I stayed in this room over the next 10 days without problems (occasionally flies entered, but that was it). In hindsight, my initial room was directly two floors above their restaurant/kitchen, so perhaps these insects came to my initial room through drains.  Other than that, it was an ok stay though wifi could be very patchy sometimes. Also, cleaning ladies often failed to change my used cups, and placed them again in my room as if they were new. Breakfast was always good, while some dinner menus were better than others (but you can also try Radisson Blu's restaurant too; it's literally next door; their food is more expensive but very good; and their wifi was far better) Overall, if you have sufficient money to stay at Hilton or Radisson Blu, no need to stay here. Otherwise, I would still consider this place as an option.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Addis Ababa

Kirkos
The staff is exceptional and pleasant and the hotel is very secure. Having 2 choices on site for dining was great! Also enjoyed having a place to just lounge around while having a drink and conversation with friends.
The Hub Hotel
4.2/58 Reviews
The hotel is situated very close to the Bole airport. Hotel rooms are very well maintained, the hotel staff is friendly and helping. I reached hotel at around 2am the hotel still managed to serve me some food at that point of time. Hotel resturant is good. Food quality is good however you won't get spicy food to eat if you are Indian. Washington rtpcr facility is just 5 mins drive. Money exchange at 5 steps walking distance. Airport shuttle is 24/7 available without Amy additional charges. Can take you to/from the airport even if you are alone.
Best Western Plus Pearl Addis

This is about 5 minutes' drive from Bole airport. The hotel is a good sized, well equipped hotel with a nice breakfast for your day. We did need a few things from the staff like the location of a late night pharmacy and they called around and got us the information and directions we needed to help us out. That was huge! The location is amid downtown's restaurants, shops, malls, and more. Even a Burger King a block away. English speaking was perfect! The room was very well appointed with waters, amenities and a really good bathroom.
Bole Ambassador Hotel

Breakfast is terrible, giving up to one point. You can only eat eggs and porridge every day. Others can't look directly. Watermelon has not been eaten too sweet. Close to the airport, there is a free bus transfer, there are friendsship small shopping malls around, you can also find some Chinese restaurants, but it is very expensive. Hotel service is general, the samples of the exhibitors were not picked up by the customs due to the drag of the hotel staff. . The room light was bad and I was too lazy to change it.

The Mosaic Hotel

I gave this place 1 star because I needed to do that in order to leave a review and partially for the courtesy the cleaning and host staff showed me. The good: Cleaning and F&B staff were great! Very friendly and attentive. The bad: 1. I was put in a room which was not cleaned prior to my arrival (look at pictures attached) 2. The room had a leaking roof and the it wet my luggage and it's content. (pic attached) 3. I was here as part of the government ”quarantine” rules, but the management staff told their cleaning staff to come into my room while I was there (essentially putting them in danger) even though I insisted that they shouldn't come in and that they just change rooms for me 4. The sheets and towels were dirty and stained (pictures attached) 5. The shower head was broken (pict attached) 6. The side lamp was broken (pic attached) and light switch for the main light was not working 7. The food was horrible 8. I stayed in the hotel for 9 days and was charged for 14 and management refused to reimburse me for the nights I DID NOT stay. Giving me some bogus reason while other people in other hotels were able to get their reimbursements The Ugly: When I spoke to management (supervisor or manager of hotel) about reimbursement, she told me the check was written but they are waiting for the owner to sign off on it, and they are on the phone now and that I should wait. After a few minutes of waiting when I didn't hear back from anyone, I decided to call the owner myself. The owner then proceeded to tell me that she understands that it might be my ”personality” to persistently ask for reimbursements of money, and that she doesn't understand why I am so adamant [about getting my money] because the money (~300usd) was not a ”life changing amount”. She then said, if the money is this significant to me it will returned to me but that it is not ready now. This is in contradiction to what the manager told me. The manager said the check was ready and they just need the green light from the owner. Additionally, when I told the owner that her accountant hang up on me while I was talking to him, She basically just called me a lair. She said she is pretty sure he wouldn't do that. It has been a little over 3 months now and still no refund. Turns out, not only is the money a ”significant amount” to me, it is a big deal for the hotel as well or even more so to them than I. This is not an ideal place to be during regular times let alone COVID times. Although it is listed as a quarantine hotel, I have seen non-guest come in and out and interact with guests (who have been ordered by government to not interact with the larger population) in very close proximity. I have put in a complaint with EPHI (Ethiopian Public Health Institute) and will continue to follow it. At this point, it is not only about the money, it is also about the principle of it all. If they were not able to refund, they should have said
