Hotel Martino Spa and Resort

Am greatly enjoying my stay in Costa Rica and here in lovely La Garita at the Martino Hotel. The hotel itself is quite special -- guests stay in separate tile-roofed buildings spread across the lush, green grounds. I imagine that the views from each room must be quite unique and special. It was so enjoyable sitting and reading on the deck outside my room watching the nearby bamboo forest sway in the gentle wind while listening to the fascinating calls of many species of birds perched in the many species of trees. Extra 5 stars and muchas gracias to the very helpful and friendly staff whose efficiency really impressed me (the hotel was hosting a conference when I stayed there in event space not far from my room, so I could witness first hand how hard the hotel team was working).

El Rodeo Estancia Boutique Hotel & Steakhouse
4.3/5101 Reviews
We stayed there for one night before flying back home, since our flight was early in the morning. The hotel is quite nice, some pieces are outdated, but still in good condition. The area is very quiet and well maintained. The staff at the reception is very friendly and helpful. That includes the cat who may walk with you to your room ;) Plenty of parking space. The rooms are different from other hotels, lots of wood, even wooden floors. I loved it, better feeling than ceramic tiles and plain white walls. The beds are comfortable and large. The bathrooms are a bit old but everything works and everything is spotless. The only thing I would mention is that there are no fridges and coffee makers in the room. You can actually ask for the coffee maker. But for the fridge - you will have to get some ice (near the pool table). Please note that this review does not cover the steak house, only the hotel.
Hotel la Guaria Inn & Suites

I loved this place. I stayed there the first night I arrived and then stayed there for the last three nights of my trip. I’m a woman , traveling solo, and was made to feel like family by the staff and owners of this gem. Rooms are clean, comfortable, have all anyone needs, priced right and excellent location for on foot exploring. They also provide parking and airport transport. I could not have asked for a more welcoming and friendly place to stay. They even assisted me in getting a local SIM card when my supposed international roaming data wasn’t working- which I kind of needed since I was driving solo and needed Waze. Again, loved it here.
Las Carmelas, Airport Juan Santamaría, Alajuela, San José
4.5/58 Reviews
This is a very cultural experience. Now, first, walk down the hill to check in. Be prepared, this is like a college dormitory. It ain't the Ritz. It's traditional Costa Rican housing. These people are soon sweet and kind. Home-cooked authentic breakfast in their dining room, he even climbed a tree and provided fresh mama. Amazing. It is in Alajuela, close to airport and downtown, but you will need Ubers. The hotel does have bicycles you can ride, but it's not close to much. However, Uber is soon handy and cheap in Costa Rica, you'll be fine. Loved this place....not for amenities, but for the hosts.
Courtyard San Jose Airport Alajuela
4.4/5107 Reviews
The hotel is next to the airport. There is a shuttle that oicks you up and takes you there every 30 minutes; they should make it every 15 minutes being so close. There is a Walmart next to the hotel and 3 restaurants in fron of the lobby: peruvian, argentinian and costa rican. The gym had everything and breakfast was ok, but not great.
