The Ashford Arms

A beautifly restored hotel, gorgeous furnishings a great beer garden, set in the chocolate box village of Ashford on the water, 10 minutes drive to Bakewell. We had evening meal and breakfast the food was excellent quality with good service. Our room was small but perfectly adequate again with beautiful furnishings, modern bathroom with the The White Company products. Apart from the ridiculous heat of the room (Harris) they do provide fans, you will need them, i would definitely stay there again. Also excellent value for money you can tell a lot has been spent on the property, a really nice place to stay eat or just a drink.

This hotel only opened in March 2024 after a total renovation and what a success they are making of it! (Obviously) everything has a newish feel to it but that doesn't account for the excellent and professional manner of the staff - friendly, helpful and competent without being obsequious or fawning as is sometimes the case. The restaurant was so good that we ate there all four nights of our stay rather than venturing further afield - there is a good selection on the menu and the pricing is very fair. The variety of menu extends to breakfast as well and they certainly brew a good cup of coffee. Good range of wines and beers as well. The position is very fortunate - just a few minutes drive from Bakewell and easy access to main roads for Ashbourne, Buxton, Matlock and anywhere else you wish to visit in this beautiful part of England. The only minor fault I could find was the lack of drawers in the bedrooms - they are not big rooms and if I had to choose between the really comfortable large bed and drawers then I'll give up the drawers but it might be a point for consideration. Anyway, I wish them every good fortune with this business - a real gem and we would certainly book again if coming back to the area.

We had a lovely stay overnight and the bedroom was fabulous, lovely toiletries and a gift of chocolates was much appreciated.The Staff were all very friendly and good service. We had a meal in the evening and it was very good.We definitely would return.

I cannot say enough brilliant things about The Ashford Arms, who we stumbled upon very much by accident. We are hiking the Peak Pilgrimage train from Ilam to Eyam over three days and wanted to find somewhere nice for our second night even if it was off the trail. Ashford in the water is a 5 min taxi drive from Bakewell which was our planned stopped but absolutely worth it. I stayed in the Wye Room, which did have a little background noise and music from the gardens/bar, which is 100% to be expected, but it wasn’t intrusive and stopped pretty early. Luxurious, comfortable, spotless rooms, with lovely touches like the retro radio playing softly when you enter to the fan, to the nespresso machine to the white company products in the bathroom (which also has a lovely rainfall shower). Food was also superb. As a non meat eater, there were super options for veggie and fish based dishes. Always a good sign when you can’t decide because they all look amazing. Service was great, with friendly ‘can do’ staff.

We had a great couple of nights stay at the Ashford Arms. Stayed in the suite which is a lovely room. Really comfy bed and excellent sleep quality. Tower fan kept room cool. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Breakfast first class. We also had dinner there one night and that too was excellent

Stayed here for two nights in this pretty village Hotel was lovely with lots of seating for drinks and meals. We ate outside both nights as the weather was very warm. The breakfast was very good but didn’t offer the continental starter of cereals and yogurts that we both like to start the morning with. The cooked breakfast was the best we had experienced in a long time We had a deluxe double bedroom with a large bed but the room was very small and very hot especially as we were above the extractor fan from the kitchen and the smell of food did seep into the room. We were given a fan which we had to be kept on all the time due to the heat. The room was very clean as was the rest of the hotel and the inside dining tables and decor were first class. A nice hotel and worth a visit when visiting this area as it is near Bakewell, Buxton and Chatsworth house and the Monsel trail

Very new hotel which is in the final stages of completion. However beautifully furnished, good parking, lovely staff. Some teething problems which we are sure they will resolve quickly. We will definitely stay again.

Called in for a pub lunch, nice cozy place, nice food, lovely young server, came home today to a pcn for parking in their carpark. Phoned pub manager, who canceled it straight away so 10 out of 10 for being fair. But would definitely go again. All round, a lovely trip in a lovely area

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location with helpful and pleasant staff. Had an evening meal which was very good as was the breakfast. Only criticism was the size of the room which was compact and thin towels in need of replacing. Neither of which would prevent me from returning or recommending it to others.
