We had a back room that you had to enter from an outside back door. So to get to the main part of the house we had to walk around the house, outside (not a big deal except in the rain). Our room was warm (even with the fan on) and did not seem to be getting any of the air conditioning that the rest of the house received. There were also tiny tiny ants all over our bathroom sink, so much so that I took everything off it and cleaned it. The kitchen in the upstairs of the main part of the house was awesome and the owner was great. If you like the character of a really old house, you might like it. But the streets, sidewalks, etc. around the neighborhood were all torn up and downtown Augusta looks rough. We didn’t feel unsafe walking to and from but there are many dilapidated buildings along the way.

Good communication from the staff. Felt like I was supporting a local business. Would stay here again. For me I booked it for its proximity to the running trail by the river.

I don't like to give bad reviews but I believe I'm being fair when I say that our stay here was quite disappointing. We made a reservation through ********** several weeks in advance. Guests must be aware that running the inn is a part-time job for the owner. We arrived to find nobody there and the place locked. It was about 3:30pm, well within the usual check in time. There was a sign at the entrance with a phone number on it so I called. All I got was a voicemail, so I left a message saying we're at the inn and asking to be called back immediately. Nothing happened. We went back to our car, which was parked at the back in the parking area and waited about half an hour but nobody called. Just as we were about to give up and leave two young women came out of the side door of the house. I asked them if they were guests at the inn and they said no, they're the daughters of the owner. I explained our situation to them and they were very apologetic but didn't seem too surprised. They told us their mom is a teacher and she's probably still at work and they tried to find her on the phone. They finally reached their dad and were able to let us into the inn and show us where our room is. They were very sweet and kind but didn't know know much about the running of the inn. They said their mom will call us. Our room and the house were nice but we were the only guests there and it was clear that the owner had forgotten that we were coming. She did call us after a while and apologized and explained how busy she is at work. Frankly, that seemed like a poor excuse but she said that she'll come by in the morning to bring us breakfast. She asked if 7:30 am was ok and I said that's too early so she said she'll leave the food in the upstairs kitchen for us and we can stay as long as we want the next day. She apparently came very early the next morning, on her way to work, and dropped off some food. We found some donuts, some cereal, a couple of bananas and some juice, milk and cream cheese in the fridge but no bagels or bread or other fruit, as she had promised. She did phone later to say she was sorry she forgot the bagels. We've done a fair bit of traveling and we've never had a situation where the innkeeper forgets that there are guests coming and forgets to provide the promised breakfast. Maybe on weekends the service is ok but I would not recommend staying here on a weekday.
