I want to share my recent experience at Galgorm. We have been to Galgorm multiple times over the last 11 years, including having our wedding there. Last week, we stayed with friends at The Red Oaks. Unfortunately, I broke my leg a week prior to our stay, so I knew I wouldn't be able to use most of the facilities. However, since we had already paid in advance, we decided to go anyway and try to enjoy what we could. Being on crutches with a cast made me realize that the place is not very accommodating for anyone requiring extra assistance. From battling the large stairs leading to the back of the Thermal Village just outside the thermal spa check-in to navigating the slope that leads down towards the heated seats beside the hot tubs, it was a challenging experience. I slipped several times on the wet ramp, but luckily, my friends were able to catch me from falling. The ramp is made of some sort of hard plastic which is extremely slippy when wet, again I never noticed this beforehand as I never had to use crutches in the past. This experience made me aware of how difficult it would be for anyone with a disability to navigate the facilities. I have always enjoyed the facilities before, but now I would advise caution for anyone needing to use them with crutches. Despite these challenges, we would still stay again. However, this review is mainly focused on the disabled access in and around the spa area.
