My three days at Xilamuren Star Campsite were honestly one of the highlights of my trip. Jiaohongjun, the owner, was incredibly welcoming and made me feel at home from the moment I gor into the car with him. He also took the time to show me around the grasslands and answer all my questions along the way. The yurt was clean, very comfortable and in prestine condition. The Xilamuren Grassland has entered the off-season during November, and there are very few tourists. It is a wrong choice to book a room in advance, because many people will come out to stop guests when they arrive in the town, and ask if you need to stay in a hotel. All resorts are remote from Hohhot, so we took a Didi from Hohhot to the resort. It took 1:50 hours. They resort itself is really nice. The yurts are comfortable and clean. We did horse riding, go car, saw a Mongolian show and every evening there is a fire show at the resort. A worker drove us to the activities.
