Grand Hôtel des Alpes

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc|0.17km from city centre
Recommend this hotel in Xiamuni, Grande, just a few minutes walk from the cable car station on the central street of the town. But the reason I recommend is not the location, it is a rare hotel with good hardware conditions, the service is so decent and attentive. Because the hotel is in the center, many streets in Xiamuni are limited to cars, and many sections are narrow and one-way. I called the hotel yesterday after a few roads were fruitless. The service staff gave me GPS coordinates very clearly and guided me all the way to the hotel's private parking lot. Let the staff pick me up. After arriving, very intimate introduction, chat, when asked if I want to book a local delicious dinner, I said, no need, I want to control the weight... The front desk lady humorously self-deprecating said, oh, how many food you are like us French women, missed! Ask me where I came from when I checked in? Say Beijing is a big city, we have 10,000 people... Knowing that I am going to the SPA and intimately draw a map for me to go back to the room to rest and change clothes. This morning, when the hotel service staff brought me Omelette and coffee, looking at the plate and pull flowers, this is really the most sincere I have ever eaten in the buffet breakfast, I feel that every minute is treated with comfort, this service is the best experience! The hotel decoration style is also my favorite old-fashioned, but it is also bright, dry, with a beautiful terrace to see the snowy mountains.

Hôtel le Refuge des Aiglons

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc|0.78km from city centre
First let me say the hotel is lovely, the suite was great. From the photos I did expect there to be a separation between the sofa bed and the main bed so it must depend which suite they give you. Ours only had just enough space to walk between the two. Most of the staff are friendly and try to be helpful (see below). Breakfast was great. You can order ”snacking” from the bar until 6pm but then the restaurant doesn't open until 7pm. We didn't use the restaurant but we did have snacking one evening. The food was good but the woman serving at the bar was terrible. Not very polite, not very helpful, almost rude. Really not what you expect in such a classy hotel. After the food was delivered (by other staff) we asked her for cutlery because it didn't come with any.....she didn't do anything. In the end I reached into the restaurant and took some off one of the tables. When my wife shortly after reached in again and took a napkin the woman from the bar complained. The location I would call average. You can walk into a busier area of town in 10 minutes or so. There's one restaurant opposite called Little Boxes which we went to a lot, it does great pizza, hamburgers, drinks, etc. After booking the room I asked the hotel for help from with transfers, equipment hire and ski school for children. Transfers - expensive at 260 Euros each way but they were good. There was a problem with the return transfer being set at the time the flight departed but fortunately I checked the day before and changed it. Equipment hire - Skiset - is in the hotel. They also look after the equipment when you're not using it (see below). Ski School - ESF - very good, the problems arose due to the hotel being some distance from Les Plenards which is where the lessons take place. You have to get there by 9am. It's 20+ minutes walk which you can't do in boots while carrying skis. The bus stop is just opposite the hotel but the woman on reception I asked told me when the bus goes but said it takes 15 minutes and you have to change. So since Skiset doesn't open until 8.30 that doesn't leave enough time. But you have to get there well before 8.30 because there will be a queue. So we ordered a taxi for 30 euros. Turns out the buses go at 8.24 and 8.44 and take 7-10 minutes direct. In the hotel there's a sign which says no ski boots in the lift. So to get the 8.24 you have to ignore that or clomb up the stairs in your boots and carrying skis and then down again in the morning. Or you can collect your skis at 8.30 and catch the 8.44 - If you can get on it. The buses are great in terms of where and when they go, the problem is there's no queue system so every time it's a battle to get on the bus. It's worse at the end of the day because everyone is tired and desperate to get back and the bus doesn't always stop in the same place so because there's no queue system it's pot luck whether you get on it. Then when you're on it they're jam packed, trying to hold your skis, the bus pole and your

Heliopic Hotel & Spa

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc|0.7km from city centre
We stayed in Heliopic Hotel during the 3rd week of March 2022. We booked one of the apartments which had plenty of space for our 3 children (9,6,3) The ski shop staff were very helpful on our first day and we were pleasantly surprised by just how close the hotel was to the main street where all the shops, restaurants and bars were located. A special mention must go to Cyrille and all the concierge team who go out of their way to help you get restaurants reservations, taxis, info about ski school or whatever it is that you require. The concierge service is most definitely 5 star. The hotel is clean and well maintained and the lobby is very kid friendly. It is quite unusual that kids are not allowed to use the swimming pool after 2pm. It seems at odds with the other efforts of the hotel to be child friendly. The private shuttle to the slopes is very convenient but we made the mistake of booking ski school and lessons for 9am which meant that we could not use this service as it got us to the slopes around 9 25/ 9 30. It is a much more preferable way of transporting young kids in ski boots with skis/poles etc than the public bus which is extremely busy and packed between 8am and 10am. However the bus stop is very very close to the hotel also. The apartment was very well equiped, very warm and had plenty of storage space to unpack bulky ski layers. It even had a private boot room beneath it.Overall we would definitely stay here again if we return to Chamonix

Alpina Eclectic Hotel

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc|0.2km from city centre
The positives: The bed was comfortable and the views amazing if you have a mountain view! From there it all goes downhill fast and you may as well be staying in a Hostel! Check in is 4pm, at which point you're told due to the hotel's desire to protect the environment they've done away with one time use plastics and you're handed a glass bottle and told to go fill it at the dispenser! Sounds good, until you get to your room and find one time use plastic cups in the bathroom and one time use paper cups by the coffee maker along with plastic utensils, and you see that the lights used are not LED's! Looking around you realize there are no amenities like shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, etc. So back to reception to ask about it? This is after all supposed to be a 4 star hotel!! At the reception you're told they have them behind the counter, all you have to do is ask for them??!! (4 star hotel??) You're handed a tray of ”one time use” amenities each one plastic and told to pick the ones you want! The hotels claim to be concerned for the environment is starting to feel a little disingenuous! We also had a real problem with the lighting in the rooms and bathroom. The bathroom lighting is terrible with the lights angled above you so the mirror is really useless because of the shadows! Whoever designed this did not have user friendly for the guest in mind! Also the shower stream was practically non existent, not enough force to rinse my hair and kept vacillating between tepid and too hot! Most of the ”front desk” people don't know anything about customer service and have had no training in it! A 4 star hotel at check-in should at least offer a map of the area and have some knowledge of the vicinity! That was not our experience.. we had to ask for a map! One gets the feeling this is just a temporary summer job for most of these people and they can't wait for this to be over! Obviously we don't recommend this hotel! I don't know how they ended up with a 4 star rating! We have traveled extensively and stayed in many hotels and I can honestly say I've never stayed in one like this! It's definitely not a 4 star hotel.. It's a hostel masquerading as a hotel!

Hôtel Vallée Blanche

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc|0.04km from Chamonix All Year
We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in early September. The hotel is perfectly located, short walking distance to everything in Chamonix. It is an older charming style hotel, with some upgrades like plumbing, elevator etc. The personnel was very nice and friendly. The breakfast for 12 EUR was a bit on a pricey side, but considering other options, it was a good value. It offered cereal, yogurt, fruits, cold cuts, cheeses, jams , croissants, coffee, tea and of course delicious French baguettes. Any ending supplies were replenished in a timely manner. Our room was on the upper floor. It was quite small, but there was also a loft accessible via steep squeaky stairs with 3 single beds. It contained a fridge with few drinks for pay and free safe for valuables, but we could not make it work. There was sufficient space for clothing and other belongings. Bed was comfortable. The windows could be wide open and the river was flowing just outside. At this time of the year we did not need heating or cooling. Few negatives: The TV was way too small and placed on the table in the corner. Could not watch anything. Besides that, only French channels were available. The lighting was absolutely insufficient, needed flashlight to read anything. The wifi ******, especially in the evenings. The hotel provides a ”guest card” for duration of the stay, which is valid for all public transportation in the area, from Servoz to Valrocine. I think all hotels do that in Chamonix. Despite the negatives above, the hotel met our needs and we enjoyed or vacation in Chamonix.

Hotel Les Lanchers

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc|0.25km from La Flégère
We booked at the very last minute, just a few hours before we checked in on the day of our stay via **********. Reasonable price. We checked in on Fri 06Jan2023 and stayed through Sunday 08Jan2023 in room #12. Room #12 is a handicapped room so there was lots of space. On Sunday 08Jan2023 at check out we decided to stay one more night here but needed to switch rooms, our second room was #19, which had a great view. At check in Andrea was extremely helpful, without being asked she told us the bus schedule and marked everything on a map for us. She was very patient with us and answered all of our questions. We also ate at the restaurant at the hotel which was some of the best food we had during our time in Chamonix. The bartender/server Florin was phenomenal - genuinely kind, helpful and overall a wonderful human. He made our experience so good that we stayed the extra night at the hotel. Florin and Andrea made us feel at home, and were so kind. They gave us great advice on what to do in the area. The food at the hotel was amazing, during our stay we tried and LOVED everything. - Steamed mussels, Mussels tomatoes, lemon juice, chili white wine , parsley - Baked local Cheeses, From age des Clarines backed with white wine, served with boiled potatoes, local cured ham, salami, tomatoes and salad/ - Tartiflettes, Potatoes, lardons, onions, reblochon cheese, and cream. Served with a salad. ** Tartiflettes is a dish that originates from this area, so it was nice to try something traditional. It was my favorite from our trip. - Pasta carbonara - Pizza, Piccante, Sausage tomatoes, mozzarella, mix des polvrons, chorizo, hailer de Basslilic This hotel is located outside the downtown area, its easily accessible via a walking path or short bus ride. It has great views and access to outdoor activities. Also less than 5 minute walk to ski/ snowboard lift. Rooms were clean, good storage, comfortable beds, all the usual hotel stuff. But what really sets this place apart is the staff. We are so thankful that we stumbled upon this little gem
Hôtel Labrador Chamonix

Hôtel Labrador Chamonix

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc|0.27km from La Flégère
I booked this charming chalet boutique hotel through my bank as they have a cashback offer on hotel stays and this was one of the hotels in Chamonix that had availability, was open during summer and had parking onsite. We went their with my friends last August to escape the provençal heat and we booked a Family room. Normally the family room is for 2 adults and 2 kids so we called them up to confirm if it is ok to room 4 adults. We had to call twice as they had customers checking out but the lady who assisted us was very nice and helpful and told us that it was not a problem. I am not sure if this is just because it was summer and normally a low season for them or if this is their actually policy, so double check first with them. As indicated on the other tripadvisor reviews, this hotel is located beside the greens of the Chamonix golf club and is on the outskirts of Chamonix so you would either need a car or take public transport. This was not an issue for us as we came with our car and we preferred not to be right in the center where parking could be expensive and difficult. Upon arriving, the public parking outside the hotel was full so we asked the receptionnist to give us access to their private paid parking. Good thing that there were still some spots left as it was not a huge parking and could probably just fit less than 10 cars so I suggest that you try to book it in advance before your stay, especially if you are going there during the peak season. The lobby and reception area had a warm ambiance and exuded a homey charm. The receptionnist was very friendly and patient, very helpful and had a smile on her face. She handed our keys eventhough we arrived a little early and told us about the spa and gave us information on how to get to the center by public transport which we really appreciated. The family room was located on the ground level and was spacious enough for a short stay. It was clean, functional, well maintained eventhough you can smell a bit of humidity in the air and had a spacious balcony overlooking the golf course. The room also had a spectacular view of Month Blanc. Unfortunately, the room had no airconditioning, but since we are near the mont blanc, it wasn't that warm especially if you opened the windows. Also, since the hotel is not near the center, it was peaceful and there was not much noise when you do open the windows. The room had all the amenities of a 3 star property and the beds and pillows were ok and were comfortable enough for a short stay. After leaving our luggages, we went out to go to the center of chamonix to catch the Montenvers train which led to the Mer de glace, the longest and largest valley glacier in France. We decided to leave the car and took a bus instead as the bus stop was around 5-8 minutes walk away from the hotel. Since we got back to the hotel late, unfortunately we were not able to enjoy the jacuzzi as it was already closed after dinner so we just went straight to our rooms and slep

Location is good - in the middle of town. But this is the only positive. On arrival we did not get parking space - suddenly we should have to booked in advance (charge) and all places were taken. In Chamonix you drive to 5-6 ski areas or spend a long time in the bus - so this is an issue when driving through Europe for this reason Maeva.com - the rental agent for our apar**ent - charged 4,00 EUR city tax per person per day instead of the correct tax 0,90 EUR. For 2 persons - 7 days - it adds up to 41,40 EUR overcharge. The friendly staff exlained bookings through Pierre & Vacances would pay the correct amount - but not Maeva customers. (2 seperate credit card hand terminals in the reception - one for P&V and one for Maeva). When complaining via e-mail - no response from Maeva. We asked for a high floor apar**ent - we got a ground floor on top of the noisy swimming pool. Last - the complex is run down - at least 15 years since last renovation.

Tie up to visit Aiguille du midi. Although it is a long building, it is well managed and suitable for shamoni, especially breakfast. I ordered a sandwich to eat on the cable car, which is also a must! The staff are all friendly and I feel that they are very caring. It is a bit far from the center but within walking distance, and we provide coupons for free shuttle buses.

What an amazing place! Hotel was wonderful, super charming, staff was so helpful, everyday they made restaurant reservations. Pool was so wonderful to use along with the hot tub after a long day. Hotel was very clean and just a relaxing place. Everyday just sitting out on that lawn, enjoying the view, so peaceful. We had a superior room with balcony and it was just great, cleaning staff came everyday. Breakfast was AMAZING, I mean that buffet was beyond words! I hope one to come back. And I appreciated it wasn't in the center of town, just a little bit out of it and I'm glad, the center was a bit too hectic for me.
