Broad Lands

The building is so charming and beautiful that it makes the stay worth it. It is like going back in time. I love it!!! However rooms are very basic, but clean, so all good 😊 The staff are lovely and helpful with anything you need. Mr Krishna was very attentive to my needs and helped me to sort out getting a sim card, so I couldn't ask for more.

Came here for business but they made sure early check in was done .. Renla made sure my entire stay was comfortable and assisted me throughout .. Helped me to book the hotel transport whenever needed.. Coming back to the room the room was well cleaned and beautiful..

Awesome staff and owner. Amazing property. Best for the explorer. Seen some reviews of other people complaining about the property. But I didn't find any point to complain about my stay in this place. Also met with amazing travellers from Europe as well as Indians . Being a tour guide I have stayed in all sorts of categories of hotels around the world. So this place meets all basic requirements of its category. Disclaimer Not for those who seek luxury like Europe at a cheaper price of Asia.

We were attracted by the photos of this fabulous old place which was once some sort of residency of a Moroccan trader. Mr Raja and his team take great care of the place, keep it clean and provide a little calm from the hectic world outside. Although it clearly sits in the budget category there is a great choice of rooms. Some are huge with sitting areas where you can watch the sun go down over the Mosque next door.

I first stayed in Broadlands over 30 years ago and it hasn't changed much to be honest. Originally the Old Turkish Embassy in Madras its a building with good bones and character. A warren of nooks and crannies, courtyards and hidden passages, the level of drip feed maintenance keeps it at an appealing level of delapidation. We stayed in a large room on the roof with its own private veranda, at night we went up on the roof terrace and watched Chennai below., there a large mosque nearby so no need to set your alarm!! Ensuite bathroom with no hot water, was an irrelevance as it was so hot the cold showers were a mercy! Triplicane is fairly grubby and I think Chennai is increasingly chaotic and the traffic is insane, Broadlands offers an oasis in the madness ...We found the staff very helpful , good exchange rate when we changed money and the possibility to order food in if you can't face the hassle.

I stayed at Broad Lands in September, absolutely LOVED the building, really was a vintage experience and truly unique in the heart of the city. The top room and the rooftop terrace are incredible, really magical to explore the building, it has so much charm. My room was impeccably clean with AC and all the staff member were such sweethearts and went out of their way to make us feel at home and helped me with all of my questions. I will be back soon, thanks for everything!
