We booked a room for 4 as we travelled as a family. The room is clean, firm bed quiet and the staff are helpful. It is a short walking distance to Ipoh old town. I definitely will stay at this hotel again for my next visit. The room comes with a huge TV mounted up and hanging from the ceiling. There is nothing much to watch but it is a smart TV, probably one can surf the Net or Youtube for more entertainment. The room comes with basic facilities but since it is a budget hotel, we are not expecting too much. We are not sure why the food on the table was infested with ants.

The staff are very kind and polite at the reception. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated with movie posters. The shower area was bigger than expected. However, the hot water needed some time to come on. There is a water dispenser at the hallway and a foodcourt is located just next to the hotel, which gives you easy access to food. Overall, it's cozy place to stay in if you are on a budget and just needed a place to stay for the night. Soundproofing for the rooms, however, is very bad. You can literally hear when the room next door is back/out from their room, and when they are taking a shower. Apart from that, even with the windows closed, you can still hear people talking on the streets. How loud was it? I woke up in the middle of the night thinking that I forgot to close the window.

Z Hotel is a modern hotel. Formerly was J A Residence Hotel. Its located near CIQ within less than 10mins walk. Very accommodating and very cosy hotel with good JB straits & city view. Everything in the room was freshly good & new. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Z Hotel is just opposite the popular night market call Bazaar Karat which is well known among their locals and foreigners. Currently Z Hotel do not serve any breakfast but local eateries are easily found nearby and everywhere in JB central. I would highly recommend Z Hotel if u wish to stay in d central of JB and within walking distance to most places. Last but not least, no frets its value for money hotel. We will definitely return.

It was a clean and cute hotel. There is no refrigerator or pot. There was a hot water server and tea outside the room and I was able to use it freely. It is forbidden to drink alcohol in the room. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but there is a delicious sauna restaurant called Mama Kim next door, and there is also a morning set, so I was able to have breakfast at a low price. The location is also good.

GGuest UserWir waren für zwei Nächte in diesem Hostel was für Ipoh auch ausreichend ist. Das gesamte Hostel ist modern eingerichtet, sauber und gemütlich. Es gibt ein Terrasse einen Chillout Bereich und eine Küche in der es auch Kleinigkeiten zum Frühstück gibt. Die Angestellten sind sehr nett und helfen gern auch spontan bei einer Tour zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten. Aufgrund der Liebe der Malaysier zu lauten Autos und Autorennen war es etwas laut aber es gibt kostenlose Ohrstöpsel. Für das Preis Niveau ein Top Hostel.

GGuest UserVery comfortable bed. Room size is just nice for overnight stay. Breakfast buffet is reasonable and afternoon hi-tea (canapes, sushi) was impressive! Wifi is strong. Room decor is grey and added in yellow dim lights, the setting is somewhat depressing even when it's a sunny day outside. Also need to close curtains all the time as room window faces inner mall and you can see ppl walking past :(

GGuest UserI had one night stay with 2 family members of mine. The car park is narrow and limited, you need to be careful to park your car. Check in was rather easy and fast, no deposit was asked. Hotel is equipped with many facilities like gym, swimming pool, KTV and even a cinema. The family room I booked is spacious, you will get enough space to put 3 persons luggages. The bathroom satisfies me the most, there is a bathtub and a standing shower room equipped with 2 in 1 heater, and the water pressure is adjustable yet strong enough. However, the room Aircon swinging function is broken, it just blows in a fixed direction and may not be cooling the farer bed. Also, one side of the sofa chair was wet during my visit :(
Overall my stay is fine without much inconvenience.

GGuest UserPaloh was a malay & orang asli (“native”) kampung (“village”) that has been around from at least the 18th century. Apparently the names comes from the founder of the village itself Toh Paloh. Paloh, or palung, also means a depression in the ground that holds water, or a fishing hole to catch fish. It is believed that Paloh was also a boat dock in the past. Some other views hold that the Hakka were the founders of Paloh, and only later came the Cantonese. According to this theory, the origin of the name is a symbolic reference to the dams that were constructed along the Kinta River for fishing purposes. These dams were referred to as “Pa-Lo” in the Cantonese dialect and eventually the area became known as Paloh. Paloh today has of course become the heart of the city of Ipoh. In this old part of the city pre-war Shop Houses line the streets, with a predominantly Chinese character. “Sarang” is a malay word meaning nest, hence “Sarang Paloh” means “The Nest in Paloh”, evoking the image of the hotel as a place of rest for the weary traveller. Located on Jalan Sultan Iskandar (formerly Hugh Low Street), Sarang Paloh is located in pre-war two storey shop houses that originally were the premises of a Goldsmith and a Bank more than 90 years ago. The façade of one of the buildings still has the name of the Goldsmiths on its façade in English, Chinese and Malay (jawi script), with the stately bank building still has the name of Overseas-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited on its front. Across the road, Sarang Paloh has another shophouse of which the ground floor has been converted into a carpark. If you have a car, this is where you would park. Parking is complimentary, but you must exercise caution, turning right into the shophouse entrance as Jalan Sultan Iskandar is a pretty high traffic road, and the building inside is quite narrow, with the cars having to be parked bumper to bumper, in two rows. Exit is out through the back of the shophouse into a back lane. Do bear in mind that if the shophouse is full of cars, you may get boxed in by other parked cars and not able to exit! Fortunately this did not happen to us while we stayed here. Getting to the hotel means having to cross the busy road again on foot, with your luggage, from the car to the hotel. The main reception area was in the former Goldsmith’s building, and the entire front of the shop house is dedicated to the reception. To get in the front door, you will need your access card, or the staff inside will have to let you in, if you have yet to check in. The central part of shop house is a courtyard with a spiral staircase going upstairs to the 2nd floor, and in the back is a sort of pantry area with dining table. Staircase at the back also leads upwards. We had booked a room at the back of the shophouse on the 2nd floor, as we were aware of reviews that rooms in front may have some street noise. GGuest UserOne of the few decent places left to book for the peak Chinese New Year period in Ipoh, realized that I stayed here before many years ago. Because of the high occupancy, there were insufficient car park in front of the hotel and we had to park outside the hotel compound along the road. Before our stay, the hotel emailed to inform that their water heating system was undergoing maintenance and there would be no hot water during our stay. Great timing… at least they did offer to accept cancellation or change of date. As the weather was rather hot, we did manage to survive with cold showers. The hotel seemed well-maintained, except the corridors - those do need some brush up. The room was spacious, despite having an extra bed. Room was basic and no frills, but they do have daily housekeeping which is good, unlike some hotels that used the pandemic as a reason for not providing the same. Centrally located in downtown Ipoh, pretty much everywhere in town is just a short drive away. However, there are not much in terms of convenience store or eateries in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, so you’ll need transport or brave enough for a long-ish walk. Considering the peak season, this was still an acceptable stay.

Nnina_chabrawe paid 50RM per room deposit, and we had 2 rooms, so 100RM. 1 for mw and i for my parents. 2nd day my parents room toilet ceiling collapsed and flooding the toilet. not only were they rude to change the room for us because their toilet damage was irreparable, when we are checking out, they FORFEITED 1 room's deposit because we had to change rooms! I MEAN ***??? THE TOILET DAMAGE IS IS THEIR FAULT. bad maintenance, looks like. also, when i asked to speak to manager, because the front desk staff showed me a Whatsapp correspondence from his manager. the poor front desk staff said I couldn't speak to manager, coz not hotel policy. I didn't want to yell at him, coz it looks like the manger is the shady one I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. please beware!

NNurasyikin ZI stayed at the Premier room (2 King beds). Everything looked okay at first, cleaned and spacious. Room was enough to fit 4 adults and 2 small kids at one time. But when i tried to use the tap and shower in the toilet, looks like the heater was not functioned. When i tried to use the standing shower, it got burst immediately and the tube spout connecting to the tap fell off. I had to use the shower near the bathtub instead. Then when my husband tried to use the electric kettle, boom, all power off due to power trip. We called up the reception and they sent a technician immediately, he was surprised to know that the wiring was not done correctly, and was not safe at all. Knowing that the wiring and shower work will take some time, and we couldn't be moved to another room due to unavailability. We had no choice but to leave the room because 1. my baby needs hot water for his milk, 2. we havent had dinner. We headed back to hotel right after dinner, and thank god they managed to complete all the work. Shower and wiring were fixed accordingly and the heater finally worked. Breakfast? The Chinese fried rice was very plain in taste. Even my 2 year old baby refused to eat it. Same goes to the rice porridge- tasteless. Fried meehoon was okay. I'd rather have a simple selection of tasty breakfast, rather than having a variety of food but tasteless. The only credits i would vie was to the front desk officer and technician. butI'm not recommending this hotel, avoid if you may.

Book it last min before 1 day I arrive ipoh, thought only for a sleep so no need booking expensive hotel, but this hotel makes me not comfortable because someone wants to open my door at midnight 3am, not sure the ppl going to wrong room or what. I think it’s ok for budget travelers. I’ll book another hotel earlier if travel to ipoh again 😆

GGuest UserWhy glorify these dark alleys which look like the neighborhood where Jack the Ripper lurk for his next victim? The ”hotel” is supposed to be ”designer hotel”. It's a prison. Period. Full of hazardous corners and dangerous pits. Pool was so heavily chlorinated that the water stung. Door handle came off, stupid latch on the outside of the room, multiple key card systems that could potentially kill if a fire breaks. I almost got stuck in the common bathroom because the latch refused to budge when I wanted to get out. Sink at the common area was greasy. The reception was almost impossible to find. Do not take your elderly family members or small children to this hotel. I booked it coz I had no choice at such a short notice. Not worth the money either. Seriously, MPI should re-inspect that place and take back the accommodation license. Look at the ”barrier” from the rooftop pool to the ground below. No banister. It's lower than my knee if I stand next to it. One wrong move, you'd plummet down. Steps made out of metal grating. No safety yellow stickers to differentiate the levels. Totally NOT safe! Never again!
