I booked a solo spa session and it was incredible. I was a little anxious about attending myself but I needn’t have worried. The spa facilities were INCREDIBLE and I was lucky to have the use of it to myself for most of the afternoon. The robes, slippers, and frequently provided towels were luxurious. I had an afternoon tea which was absolutely delicious and the lounge I ate it in was gorgeously decorated and spotlessly clean. The absolute highlight however were the staff.. from the reception staff, to the gent working in the spa, and the girls serving afternoon tea - I have never been somewhere where the staff have been so polite, welcoming, friendly, and engaging. They were fantastic and are an asset to the already fantastic spa facilities. I’ve already recommended the Cairndale spa to many local Dumfries friends (and those further away who I think would enjoy a visit) Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The twilight spa experience was wonderful. The spa facility is one of the best I’ve visited and the staff were wonderful. Gorgeous food, perfect relaxed service - from the welcome tote bag and plush slippers to the supper in the piano bar it was perfect.

Such a lovely hotel, the staff were really attentive and so helpful. The room was lovely and clean and comfortable. Lovely breakfast, and just a really enjoyable stay, we'll definitely visit again. We also paid to use the spa facilities which we really enjoyed.

We had a spa overnight stay at the Cairndale. First impressions were good the reception looked nice and the spa area too. Staff are nice. We went to the spa for lunch before using the facilities. Despite confirming all details the day before and also previously the staff acted confused that we were having lunch which was strange. The spa is really nice lots of facilities we enjoyed this. When we went down we couldn’t get seats for a while because people had left stuff on seats and went away. The staff never done anything about this even though they said about it which was disappointing. The massage we had after was good and the lady I had doing the massage was really nice. The actual hotel rooms are clean but run down and look different from the rest of the hotel. I’m assuming they are being upgraded at some point but the prices they are charging don’t reflect the rooms the now so I would give it a miss until upgraded. Our shower head was broken, the tap came off, the room was freezing all night. They also only gave us one towel each and also one toilet roll to share between us. It was also very noisy at night you can hear everything from outside and also everything in the hallway and every door being shut etc. I had one of the worst sleeps I’ve had in ages. We had dinner at the hotel too. It was a set menu but to be honest the food was very average and old fashioned. Possibly the normal menu is of a better standard and quality as it’s not for a large amount of people. We also had a drink at the bar after. The staff need more training on making cocktails as the expresso martini I had was horrible. Breakfast was okay plenty to choose from. Overall, I would come for use of the spa facilities but not the actual hotel. It is not worth the money we paid. If we had known the standard of hotel was like this we would have booked elsewhere. I would say I have had a better stay at Premier Inns and other budget hotels.

We had a spa experience and afternoon tea. Perfect just perfect. Felt relaxed and pampered and the afternoon tea was a real treat. There was a wide selection of saunas hamans and a lovely pool with plenty of space to relax in - even water beds! Thanks to all for making it such an amazing day - we will be back!

Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Price From the moment I arrived, the exterior of the hotel looked neglected, giving an impression of age and a serious need for maintenance and modernization. For the price I paid, the experience was extremely underwhelming. The hotel promised a lot, but unfortunately, it delivered very little. To add to the disappointment, the lady who identified herself as the manager was unfriendly and didn't handle my complaint appropriately, leaving me feeling unheard and frustrated. Given the lack of service and overall condition of the hotel, I would never stay here again.

The staff are all amazingly friendly and efficient. The only issue we had was the heating was not on in the bedroom within 1 minute after a phone call to reception the heating came on shortly followed by a staff member knocking on the door offering us an electric heater ! Food was good for mass catering and breakfast was very good and hot. Excellent efficient service in both restaurants. Clean, comfortable bedroom. Only disappointment was that residents can only book a 2 hour slot in the new Spa between 8am-10am or 6pm-8pm which clashes with mealtimes !! The cost of the Spa is high at £45pp for 2 hour especially with such restricted time access to residents.

Visited the new Cairndale spa on 25/10/24. Booked for friend’s birthday - spa afternoon and afternoon tea. Would absolutely recommend. From the minute we walked in the door to when we left every staff member was extremely pleasant and helpful. The spa experience is amazing and afternoon tea gorgeous. We were provided with smoothies/water throughout the time we were in the spa. Fantastic we now have such a great spa on our doorstep in Dumfries.

OVERRATED & OVERPRICED! Underwhelmed on arrival - hotel is on a busy, noisy road. The area is rundown and doesn’t have much to offer much. We stayed for 2 nights, costing £558, this included entertainment with dinner on the Saturday evening. Rooms are dated, we booked a Superior Room - this is no different to standard room other than a TV in the bathroom, not worth the extra cost! We advised prior that we were celebrating 40th birthday, there was no upgrade or even a bottle of wine, no gesture whatsoever, and nothing offered to make it extra special. We left it too late to book any spa tea treatments, and when attempting to use the facilities we were asked if we had a booking, we advised no and just wanted to use the hotel facilities and were told it was an additional cost! Not a small supplement to a hotel guest, we were stung for an additional £218 (109pp) for use of the facilities, with lunch and NO TREATMENTS. There was cheaper rates of £45pp but you could only access between 8-10am or 6-8pm but the times didn’t suit us. The Spa is lovely but it doesn’t offer much more than my local gym & leisure club. No water or herbal tea offered and no dark, cosy relaxation room. Everything extra £!!! I honestly do not know what the fuss is about! Social media promoting nonsense as usual! The cost doesn’t reflect the area. I’m absolutely disgusted the money we have wasted at this place. I would not recommend and certainly will not be returning. AVOID!
