I have travelled a lot in China the last 5 years. This is probably one of the best hotels I have been. Clean, comfortable, close to everything, very nice staff. Have everything you need in the room. They leave you presents in the room, have all the free drinking water you need, free apples, just excellent welcome feeling. They go as far as pointing the shower head to the side everytime they clean the room so you don't get wet when you turn on the shower. More expensive and luxurios hotels have a lot to learn from these guys. Just excellent.

This is the best hotel we stayed in this trip. The service is top notch, the front desk opened door for us, took over our luggage, greeted us with big smile and hot tea. She even took our luggage to our room and showed us around. The breakfast is free and very tasty, bottled water is unlimited, which is very helpful. This hotel also host foreign passport holders. I would strongly recommend you to try this hotel if you ever decide to travel to Dunhuang.

We got free upgrade to the suite so that was nice. Very pretty river view and not as noisy as some of the reviews I've read. Probably because the weather was getting chilly. Room was very spacious, even for just the size of the bedroom alone. Bed was comfortable and not too soft. But I will say that the light switches in the rooms and also the smart toilet seat were very confusing. Strangely, it had a large bathtub area, but a separate and very squished shower closet. The water didn't quite drain properly also. Breakfast was okay. But considering how the city really is just a town in the desert, I'd say it's actually pretty good. The local restaurants are also options, but we had to get up super early for day trips, and didn't feel like freezing outside to look for food when it's still dark. Side note, the night market in town is nice but not much going on outside of that area. The hotel is not in the city centre, but since the city is small, taxi is the way to go. We actually end up just getting the phone number of one of the taxi driver, and called her whenever we planned to head out. I chose the hotel based on aesthetics and was not disappointed. But our suite was in the end of a very long hallway, so get ready to walk if you are not near the elevator.

After the meal was finished, I asked the waiter, and I still had to wait for two or three minutes. Asked the waiter, a vermicelli baby cabbage, and a vegetarian dish waited for nearly 50 minutes. The waiter said confidently, ”You should know that what you ordered is steamed food, and steaming takes a long time”, ”Cooking in a restaurant is different from cooking at home, it takes a long time”. What do you mean I should know? ! From ordering to urging for the food, none of the waiters said that this dish took a long time. After paying the bill, the food was not served, and they told me ”I should know that it took a long time”? ! I got up to pay the bill, walked to the counter, and the food was served. I didn't touch it, paid the bill and left. The service of a luxury five-star hotel is uneven from the front desk to the restaurant. The restaurant's ability to solve problems when encountering problems is almost zero. No matter when and how many times to communicate, it is basically ineffective communication. Is the hotel restaurant worthy of the price that is nearly twice as expensive as outside? It is known that the food here is much more expensive than outside, not because the guests are fooled and don't know the prices outside, but because they pay for the environment and service of eating in the hotel. Obviously, the restaurant of Sunshine Shazhou Hotel does not deserve it.

There are really too many people in Dunhuang during the summer vacation. It is really good to stay in the Oasis theme hotel. It is worth mentioning that we were given fruits. There is also self-service apricot skin water in the lobby, which is sweet and sour and delicious. This hotel is located right next to the Dunhuang night market. The rooms are very big and comfortable. Amazing hotel with view on the desert ! Comfortable and clean bedrooms. Very well located, next to the crescent moon scenic area, also in front of the outdoor show and 3 mn far from the town center by car. There is a shuttle bus to go to the town center and to the airport. The staff at the front desk welcomed us very warmly, they are really nice and helpful. The buffet breakfast is delicious and tasty, it is located on the roof top with view on the desert. I strongly recommend you this hotel.
