Durban Hotels with Gym

Upon arrival the receptionist was awesome, friendly, helpful and a pleasure to communicate with. The house keeping staff was amazing and so friendly, 2 of the days I had food poisoning from a well known restaurant in durban and house keeping where always asking how I was and did I need anything. On the whole the staff are great. The only negative and it's not the hotel is the noise at night from the car park by the beach with people drinking (with loads of police close by) and playing music. Garden Court however can be very proud of there staff.

I first stayed here in 2013. I revisited this hotel in 2022 as I needed a last minute accommodation to attend a colleagues wedding. I was surprised to find that hotel hasn't changed much. We booked family room, we had a beautiful view of pier though, staff was friendly. However we were cautious not to walk around freely in the area as it's been known to be in an unsafe area. As soon as you step out of the building or even cross the street, you're in an unsafe zone. Even in daylight you aren't safe there. Food was good but limited for vegatarians. Breakfast packs are provided on checkout, which is ideal for those returning to work that day. No candles and matches in rooms and this is concerning during loadshedding or power outages. Hotel is currently upgrading their parking but still hotel is placed in an unsafe area so one needs to be cautious.

The hotel is great and close to the sea. It was not safe in Durban and we didn't dare to go out. And we only stayed in the hotel. The tour guide said that the locals were asking about being robbed how many times instead of whether being robbed? It is better to have local friends to accompany you, otherwise try not to go out.

Location is good enough if you are conducting business in and around the city of Durban and not expecting anything more than a very basic 3 star experience. Even so, the value for money is not great. Rooms are clean, but need a little TLC here and there. Colleagues said their beds were very uncomfortable, but I clearly got lucky, as my bed was very comfortable. If you order from the a la carte menu, be prepared to wait a long time for your food to arrive. Same applies to drinks orders. Seems as if they were still on skeleton staff post Covid, or maybe they were unprepared for the influx of people attending Indaba. IMO, City Lodge is much better value for money.

You went out of your way to comfort us and ensured that we leave the hotel as a happy customer who definitely will return back to the hotel.

I really enjoyed my stay. I hope the hotel updates it’s system so that confirmation emails from trip.com don’t go to their spam. I was really annoyed when I had to hold the line and kept calling them. They couldn’t find my booking, only to find it in their spam emails.

Service was awesome. Room was clean and neat however the toilet and shower area was just a little too small and not a lot of privacy.
