Stood waiting to check in and ignored, the guy was too busy listening to his colleague checking in a group of men who she couldn’t find on the system thinking it was funny, I had to approach and ask him to check us in. Room smelled musty and dark, we went out to our Fringe performance, when we arrived back at around 9:45pm there was no one manning the bar for a cold drink, after waiting (we could be seen from reception through an open door), I had to go and ask to be served. Back in our room, it was cold, you could clearly hear heavy traffic from the busy two road junction and traffic lights below. The thermostat seemed broken on the heater/aircon, it was noisy and blowing out cold air at 21 degrees, there were no instructions. To correct this would have meant staff coming into the room late at night to fix this, which I would not have felt comfortable with as a female with my daughter. Then in the early hours a party arrived back and was shouting and banging doors outside our room for what seemed like ages. When checking out I wasn’t asked about my stay, so I mentioned the road noise and the party in the corridor and was told I should have come down and reported it. As a female I did not feel comfortable putting on clothes in the middle of the night, walking into the party in the corridor to go down in the lift to reception, leaving my daughter in the room alone. Plus apparently the hotel was fully booked, so they couldn’t have moved us. Basically, the hotel was dated and in need of a makeover. There was ‘D’ clamps in the breakfast room to hold up vertical blinds, this has to be a heath and safety issue! The breakfast choice was pitiful, hardly any continental and a few dishes of hot, one was fried eggs sitting in oil, looking hard!!! The staff, in my opinion need training in customer service, the musty rooms need cleaned and repainted - don’t get me started on the shower curtain in the bathroom!!!! I’ve stayed in plenty of Premier Inn’s in various cities and this one lets you down. I have complained to Premier Inn and up to now have only received an apology for the breakfast and a proposed refund of £17.98 - how disgraceful.
