Facilities: I booked a four-poster room upstairs, which is very aristocratic; the other is a modern double room on the first floor below. The bathroom is a bit old-fashioned, so it's no problem to use it.
Hygiene: I only stayed for one night and I felt it was okay.
Environment: Surrounded by similar small single-family houses, the houses are quite old and elegant in style.
Breakfast was great, recommended.

The hotel is very special and classical, especially the four-poster bed, which feels very "Louis XIV" 😂😂. The furniture and decoration in the room are very nostalgic, which matches the medieval city of Edinburgh very well.

Het ziet er naar uit of het hotel uitgemolken wordt. De foto’s die bij *********** te zien zijn, lijken van jaren geleden toen het nog in goede handen was. Al bij het parkeren van de auto maakte de buitenkant een troosteloze indruk. Vervallen met verdorde planten voor de deur en rommel in de omgeving.

Chambre très confortable et propre, personnel très sympathique. Le parking est un vrai plus. Le petit déjeuner est copieux au choix des fruits, des oeufs, porridge.... Nous y avons passé une nuit et l'on recommande cette adresse sur Édimbourg.

Sad, dirty, overpriced. We booked this stay hoping for the advertised charm and “4 star” experience advertised. It’s nothing of the sort. The shower had no hot water the first night. The room was deeply sad - faded and torn textiles. The bathroom shower curtain was moldy. Service was mehhhh. Overall I would avoid this place. They’re charging way too much for way too little. And probably relying on their past quality rather than present value.

Upon arrival we were checked in by Lewis, who was so friendly, knowledgeable and hospitable. He provided us with key attractions and places to visit whilst in Edinburgh, and ensured that we had all of the information we needed to have an enjoyable stay, even down to the buses we would need to catch! Our room was cleaned and replenished daily, with extra top ups available at reception. Breakfast was available at an extra cost, which we did not indulge in due to being more lunch eaters, and evening meals are not provided. However, this did not affect our stay in any way and we would throughly recommend the Kildonan Lodge.

This is the worse hotel I have stayed. We payed for three nights accomodation . When we arrived the room was dirty . It had heavily stained carpets, broken furniture ,stains on the curtains and beds. The skirting boards were covered in dust and dirt . The bathroom radiator was leaking and the toilet seat was wobbly. We did not want to stay and asked for a refund . This was declined . We rang ******* and they rang the same manager who had shown us the room . They told us we could not have a refund . The room was 200 pounds per night and we did not have enough money to find another room . We were therefore forced to stay but left after the second night . We had travelled from New Zealand and were shocked at our treatment and state of accommodation.
